Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

This just can’t happen:

Boley was 26-for-35 passing for 330 yards and 5 scores.
Definition of insanity…doing same thing over and over and expecting different results. Heup needs to make Timmy come down to the field and call the defense, or demote him and let Inge or Alan Williams. Doing something/anything different! May need to tell Boo to sit too. I am wondering if he is a cancer on the defense and the cause for some of the trash effort we see.

So...after a day and a half of trying to get the little feller here in the old fashioned way, the doctors have called it and are going to deliver the baby by C-Section.

Baby and mom are doing fine, but progress had gotten completely stalled over the last 10-12 hours, so a C-Section is going to have to be the way

In my opinion, LSU is a top three job in the country. The state is full of talent, and there’s no other P4 program competing for recruits. It’s also in a great location to reach talent in nearby states. Everyone in Louisiana supports LSU, and the school is willing to spend money to win. I mean, even Orgeron won a national title there.

SEC has a possible chance of getting 5 teams in...

As of right now.

3 Big Ten- Ohio State, Indiana and Oregon
1 Big 12 - Texas Tech or BYU with Cincinnati as a sleeper team
1 or possible 2 ACC teams. Georgia Tech or Miami. Virginia as a sleeper team Has to win ACC Championship.
Yes Notre Dame gets in if they win out and I see no resistance for them on rest of their schedule.
G5 team- Memphis has inside track ..

SEC- Texas A&M , Alabama, Georgia probably in. Mississippi and Tennessee both could get in if they win out but a few things can't happen.

1.Hope and pray Michigan doesn't win Big Ten Championship. Very possible they play Ohio State at home, then could possibly beat Indiana in Big Ten Championship game.
2. Dont want Georgia Tech to win ACC Championship vs a 1 loss Miami team. A 2 loss Miami team has 3 really good wins Notre Dame. South Florida and Florida.. Good chance a 2 loss Hurricane team gets a bid.

Best case scenario for Tennessee is win out and Mississippi losses and not worry about any of these other situations.

Let’s take a quick look at our secondary:
Colton Hood rated as a 3* recruit and 3* transfer. He had one start on that vaunted Colorado defense.

Ty Redmond 3* true freshman

Jalen Mcmurray low rated 3* transfer from temple 2* high school recruit. He was not a stud at Temple.

Andre Turrentine: low four star high school recruit and 3* transfer that never saw the field at ohio state and was passed over by other recruits

Boo Carter: By far our highest rated secondary player but he has a horrible attitude and looks like he is giving half effort most of the time.

Edrees Farooq: mid 3* safety, first year starting

We need to put some money into our back end on defense. This secondary is a liability and couple that with the slight regression along the defensive line and this is the defense that you get.

I’m ok with moving on from Banks and getting a new voice/ideas in that room. Up until now, the complaints hadn’t matched what he had accomplished. Go Vols and figure it out enough to beat Ok, Florida, and Vandy. Especially Vandy, we can’t lose to those idiots.

This place is about to burn down...I just don't see us winning against Florida on the road or against Vandy or Okie at home...purely because of this pathetic "defense" that can't defend against anything.

I hope I am wrong...I really really hope I'm wrong...but I just have zero faith in this defense holding any of those teams to less than 33...and all three have by far good enough defenses to hold us under 28.

Giving up that many points and yards to this abomination of an offense is inexcusable..

Somebody please change my mind..🤦
If you really want to have a panic attack imagine this team with Nico at quarterback. We might not be bowl eligible. Joey and our offense give us a chance in every game but it’s hard to win out with every game a shootout. Not sure how our defense can be this bad but they are horrible.

Im almost convinced that our offense is playing a major role in how our defense plays under heupel. When are offenses is scoring quickly and moving fast our defense is atrocious. When we slow our offense down like we did under Nico and run the ball more our offense is magically much better. I think there is a correlation.
Most teams in the SEC could play the entire game on defense and not give up over 30 points to Kentucky. This defense is just not well coached and that’s the truth. It is what it is this season. We’re still 6-2.

But they have to lose one more and I don’t see that happening with who they have left.
Kiffen will find a way. They were 100% playoff bound last year and lost to florida.

I could see them losing to SC, UF, or Mississippi state. Mississippi state will eventually close out a game.

We still have a 90% chance to make the playoff at ten wins. We will get in if we win out, I’m more concerned about how we can get to 10 wins with this atrocious defense.

Because our secondary (minus 2 players) is so bad, the two turnovers and drive before the half were the difference. Otherwise this would’ve been a nerve wracking game to the end.

This has been a problem since Heupel took over. We don’t match up well against good QB’s. Last year, Pavia was the only good QB we beat. Green, Beck, and Howard beat us and two of them convincingly. If Heupel wants to win a championship he will need to correct our DC and CB coaching and recruiting.
