Josh Elander Named Tennessee Head Coach

Wonder if the players rallied and said this is our guy? Typically you don't weigh too much with what players want as far as long term coach, but with this roster and incoming class, we can't let it fall apart.

Imagine everyone bailing out right now.....that would be a disaster that would take a few years to recover from.

This is probably the best case scenario right now. It hopefully keeps all or most of the roster and recruits on board. It also gives him a shot to prove he's the guy and we'll know fairly quickly if he's not, which would lead to a full on new coaching search anyway.....

That was the fastest any search firm has ever operated in the history of collegiate sports. I’m happy with the decision but why the smoke show? Only makes me question the entire narrative even more.
Might have something to do with state law regarding hiring at UT. Just may have to interview more than one person before a hire is made. Search firm just puts a nice bow tie on the process

Not sure, but thought I heard in the past that the Athletic Dept was not required to follow those rules…… anybody know for sure one way or the other?

I think you’re right. I think it’s all an optics game. Probably knew he wanted Elander the entire time.
