Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

The replies....
Making ourselves look like idiots... Post from a Georgia board I was seeing if Wes Johnson might be a candidate.

VoLOL's over there making jokes that he's gay and that's why he's going to San Francisco and never married. I'm pretty conservative, but that's just low class. Who cares? He was a damn good baseball coach and the best thing that had happened to their university in awhile.

Best coach on campus.

He is going to come back...I just don't believe this silly experiment is going to work out for Tony or the Giants either one....and when he does come back to CBB, it will be to one of our hated SEC rivals and I am going to hate him for it.
I think TV hates them as much as we do, except Vandy, he loves Tim Corbin and Vandy.

IF it happens I can def see him going to Vandy when Corbin retires. That's another reason I'm hoping he succeeds in MLB. If we were to hire Elander though, he could also prove to be a darn good HC.

Bro you can't leave us hanging like that...

I was referencing the names already being thrown around by reporters publicly. It’s a great list so far

Sounds like we’re going to seek out one of the best names in college baseball on top of interviewing in house

I’m sad about Tony but optimistic our AD continues to make great hires. It’s going to be tough going from the goat TN baseball coach to whatever is next but I think we are in good hands

Yeah....not until Tony gets fired by the Giants in a couple of years. That stupid experiment is not going to work.
Tony's statement today is that he isn't selling his house in Knoxville and wants to come back to work at TN in some capacity when his MLB career is over.

It doesn't have anything to do with being a conspiracy theorist nut. It's all about what is to be gained by continually trashing our AD based on speculation of why Tony left. There is probably some truth in the rumors that Danny and Tony weren't best buddies but you simply can't ignore the fact that Tony was given elite resources in relation to his competition to compete at the highest level. That is a fact that can't be disputed. So what are you trying to accomplish by continuing to beat the drum that Tony left because Danny is a meanie! The only logical explanation is you have an axe to grind with our AD for some reason. Seems like all the others coaches on campus love the guy and are thrilled he's their boss. Have you also taken a step back and considered that all the sources you keep quoting are getting their information from Tony's camp? Is it possible they have a little bias? Can you fathom that many situations have a little nuance? I'm sure there is some blame on both sides but at what point do you just say, maybe spreading rumor and speculation isn't great for the University I Love? It's just frustrating to have "fans" assume the worst and just run with any bit of controversy they can think of for some unknown reason. Rant over.
I like @InVOLuntary and @Jimmy Football, but this would be my response, too. I would also add that Tony's program didn't stand alone as it was part of a greater athletic department. Sometimes, you have to be a team player with other sports. Whatever resources Tony did have, he was killing it. But people always want more.

I was happy to see Tony's statement- made me feel better about the situation.

They just went to OT with Texas too. I think a large majority of our fans are overlooking this game. I think we win, but Idk if we cover the 9.

I'm thinking something like 37-27 Vols
Texas can’t score and Kentucky had two weeks to prepare. Only reason it was close and Texas kept shooting themselves in the foot

Agreed and I like those guys as well. I have most of the nuts on ignore but don’t have them for a reason as I think they love Tennessee. I get it sucks too lose Tony but at some point we need to just drop it and move on with those that are still here. Anyway I will take that advice for myself and move on. We have kittens to whoop and an elite baseball coach to hire. Onward and upward. Go Vols.
