AgreedMegadeth> Metallica, I never got into post Mustaine Metallica, but like their early stuff with him. Common denominator.
I think CRB falls into the same category. The difference is age, most people expect him to exit soon, and Barnes made his name elsewhere where as TV was Tennessee product. TV felt like he was 100% ours.Lowe: "What Tennessee lost was bigger than baseball. It was something he started when Tennessee athletics were in the crapper. He gave fans something to hold onto when things weren't going well inside that athletic program and brought people together. It was more than baseball. It was an event...................DW said it was a proud day. I disagree. Its a sad day. I don't think this had to happen. I think there was a way for this not to happen."
Don't know much about what he's built at UNLV, but hard for me to take that "built one of these at Florida" seriously when he's talking about a school where Spurrier & Urban Meyer coached. It's hilarious that Gator fans have spent the last week arguing vehemently that the Ole Miss job isn't better than the Florida one and here comes Dan Dang Mullen saying the UNLV job is a better job than the Florida one.
“I wanted a place where I didn't have to start from scratch,” Mullen said. “I mean, I had nothing like this at Florida. I built one of these at Florida, right? I had to. I got there, raised every penny, and built the whole facility. There is nothing like this there. And so, like, I don't want to go somewhere where I just start from scratch. When you come here and you look at Allegiant Stadium, check. You come through this facility and you're like, check, we have a premier facility, especially at our level.
I hope Dan realizes everything has shifted and it’s no longer an arms race for the best facilities. It’s all about the Benjamins. Players got to get paid. It's hilarious that Gator fans have spent the last week arguing vehemently that the Ole Miss job isn't better than the Florida one and here comes Dan Dang Mullen saying the UNLV job is a better job than the Florida one.

Agree, but the question we've seen some yesterday - about whether Tony is a VFL (I answered yes as long as he isn't coaching in another college dugout). Made me think about Coach Dickey (I'm old, but his leaving for FL pre-dates my Vols fanhood). I don't care that he came back here as A.D., I didn't stand up and clap when they honored him at Neyland.I think CRB falls into the same category. The difference is age, most people expect him to exit soon, and Barnes made his name elsewhere where as TV was Tennessee product. TV felt like he was 100% ours.
My understanding is it all revolves around the revenue sharing split. So my guess is Tony wanted more of the pie.It would seem like some of the "TV didn't get what he asked for so he left" sentiments would be tough. If the reports are true and TV and DW had a strained relationship because they didn't get along; then what is the concession that TV is asking for to improve that? Did he want DW to fire himself so TV could get an AD that he got along with? It just seems like that would be a situation where TV either says I am happy enough with every other aspect of my job that I will stay at UT or not. There was no way to remove the issue.
Facilities typically signal to recruits a program's willingness to invest in the program. It's not as important now that $ is king, but Dan is clearly suggesting that the money he never got at Florida is there at UNLV to build a program. I guess we'll see if he's right. I bet no one will be able to hire him away from UNLV though.I hope Dan realizes everything has shifted and it’s no longer an arms race for the best facilities. It’s all about the Benjamins. Players got to get paid.
One thing to add...People also have to realize DW isn't calling the shots when it comes to $$$. He's really a middle man. Big investment has been made into baseball so it's not like he's sitting there with a checkbook he can pull out anytime a coach is getting calls for other jobs.
100m + into a new stadium
Tony V had just signed a new contract making him the 2nd highest paid coach in college
22 new scholarships being paid for the baseball program
The biggest budget for athletics in the country
Sure a few big money donors may be saying "it could have been avoided" but they also may not have a damn clue what TV was looking for either. And we have entire chunks of fans and donors alike that don't care about baseball, or football or basketball or soccer or track or softball or swimming etc. not everyone wants to pony up to help keep Tony and some that have already might have been like "but we're already paying X for this new stadium..."
Not sure who Godwin is but my wood would be bricked up with the top 2
I could ride with him easily but I wouldn’t get bricked up like I would for the other 2Cliff Godwin - Wikipedia

Ah yeah I think he’s solid but Elander Vaughn are top 2 for my peasant brain. Big drop off from there
