Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Chris Lowe said that on a radio show in Nashville. Said an assistant AD was assigned to work with Tony and his team. He said Tony and DW hadn't spoke in months.
That’s old news, though. Your post was referencing DW not being involved to work out a deal for Tony to stay. Having an assistant AD to oversee baseball when you’re in charge of an athletic department the size of TN’s isn’t all that odd.

Can you point out the person “in the know” that has said TV is taking the Giants job so that he can take a different college job in a couple of years?

I’d like to know so that I can give that idiot less credence than I might have previously.
Prob Richard G West or Basilio.

That's not an accurate portrayal of what I meant. I meant that he took a job knowing if it didn't work out he would be the most sought after college coach. He didnt take that job because of so e deep desire to manage at the MLB level. I've quoted two people that are well informed, maybe the most informed college football media. One is a for.er UT star.

Thats not old news. He said it today, on the radio in Nashville. In response to the news he was leaving.

Did he say they hadn't spoken in months, or they rarely spoke? Two completely different things; and I have seen both posted, as to what Lowe said...

wow we are going to push the narrative about dw and tv until something sticks. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

dw is a winner.
Jack, do you this Chris Burke and Kendall Rogers are lying about this situation?

If you do, fine. I don’t, and I can’t memory wipe what they said.

Our pours after hearing the news. BUT,…. think good news is coming
Umm, can you speak some on this good news that’s hopefully coming? This place clearly needs it, as well as a blow out of Kentucky this weekend is needed desperately.

When he was asked about Elander, I found DW's comment about not being "chummy" with assistant coaches odd.
I didn’t read too much into that. The AD probably shouldn’t be chummy with the assistants. Overall, it was a terrible presser and definitely didn’t help stem the current narrative. But I didn’t take that particular part as a negative response, just maybe not the best choice of words.

I would suggest aligning what you say and what you mean then.

You verbatim said that he is taking this MLB role as a “placeholder” for a different college position in a couple years.

In regards to the point you say you’re making here, I pointed out the same earlier today. TV has nothing to lose by trying for a pro job.

Sure he did but that doesn't mean he was at a disadvantage to other programs. And, I'm 100% more balanced than most in here that claim despite a mountain of evidence that DW did all he could to keep him. My belief is he really didn’t care.
I have a hard time believing Danny White didn't care about keeping Tony. Danny White likes winning and he knew Tony was a winner. I just choose to believe it's nobody's fault as Tony got an opportunity to chase a dream. I left some great jobs with great friends for a better opportunity and it wasn't anybody's fault. It just happens sometimes. I agree you are way more balanced than many on this board which is why I stated in my original post to you as you seemed a little more wound up than normal. All good.

Gonna be funny when TV turns out to be a legit manager in MLB. Will put to rest a lot of this nonsense.
Why would it do that?

Our next coach turning out be a legit coach would help tremendously, though. Nobody cares as long as you win.

I doesn’t look like it. But we’ll see.
Yea I just got caught up, anderson being the interim is very telling of the direction DW is going. The oregon hc is very intriguing to me, especially if we can find a way to keep one of, if not both, of anderson/ellander

Several folks in and around the program have expressed a name like mentioned here. Let’s see if it has any merit and if it’s loud enough.
Seems like a plug and play option

I would be willing to bet TV lost out on some players because of lack of resources. I'm sure that doesn't sit well. You can't expect your coaches to be 100% in when you are 90% in.
People keep referencing #1 rated class, as it somehow demonstrates zero lack of resources.

How many players in that class that are headed directly to the MLB draft?

Those players we “landed” don’t cost anything, but look great on paper - Top30 type guys that are never gonna be here, but juice the ranking.

How many Top100ish players did we lose out on due to a lack of resources?

I’d much rather have the #73 player committed than the #9 player, if there’s zero chance the #9 is ever gonna get here.
