We have watched enough video of Tony over the years to know the majors wasn’t what he “truly”wanted…Tony could have left this place a long time ago.he’s been in every discussion of a newly developing coaching search and never bailed. now all the sudden he’s going to the majors?…

he loved the fundamentals and teaching aspects of the game above all things. watching young athletes flourish into presentable grown adult men wether that be in life,the big leagues or just representing this university the right way in general..that’s what he loved.

ESPN loved him so much they had him sitting next to former pro athletes who are now analyst on draft day that kind of exposure we were getting was free money for our recruiting without violating anything at espn’s expense that’s gone now.

I'm not so sure about that...Oregon legit doesn't give a **** about baseball and he's making less than 750k a year.

But his last 3 seasons there he's won 40 games for them. Would be interesting to see what a guy like that could do with the resources TN has for the sport.

Worst thing ever is to lose Tony and Danny White. Also, as others have said, if he fails in SF, then he can take his picks of jobs in college. If anyone else was considered the best in college like the LSU coach, then why isn't MLB going after them?

Big risk. Oregon plays in an easier conference and still has Nike money.

If he flops, the fans will want Danny’s head as he replaced the best baseball coach in America with a flop.

If you hire Elander, at least you keep the fans happy and go for a big risk big reward type of hire.

I think DW has to nail this hire with rumors about him and Tony not getting along. He is our only championship coach and was loved by everyone. My VFL neighbor is pissed.

I hope Danny realizes the magnitude of this hire.

Us 35 and under have experienced 1 real winner in our lives and that's Tennessee baseball. Understandably upset imo. Not saying all of it is intelligent but it's understandable.

Sure. But it wasn't about resources when he is going to a pro team who doesn't spend money. Not providing resources became the crutch to a possble relationship issue. The man was pulling in a top class and maybe a historic class in 2027. Big egos.

He left for a MLB job. DW didn’t have a MLB job to offer. Confused why anyone would be mad or skeptical of either.

Sad day but excited to see what happens moving forward (although anyone expecting the same exact success is drunk, TV was 1 of 1).

Hes gonna TRY and hire the right guy for the job. He isn't infallible and sometimes the fans are right.

He will care if his hire is out of left field and a massive flop when you have a great candidate in house.

Except Tony flirted with A&M last year and others.

Why did his name keep getting thrown around? It wasn't just about Sexton. Tony enabled it.

What caused him to sniff around? Could Danny have squashed it? Maybe, maybe not.


Thus, the skepticism of both.

I just want to know if the rumors or whatever about them giving more to the women’s team is true. Like I get it, but at the same time, that’s gotta be a big kick to the nads especially coming off a national championship.
