It’s so weird that there isn’t a dominant team(s) in college now.
People are still underestimating, or don't realize, how big of an impact the Portal has had on the sport. The Portal is 5x the impact NIL is.It's sooooooooo funny how a majority of college football fans thought that it was going to be the same 4 teams every year in the NIL/transfer portal era and it's the exact opposite. You got Indiana, Ole Miss, BYU, Georgia Tech, Texas Tech, SMU, Virginia, Vanderbilt and Missouri all vying for playoff spots in late October. It's awesome.
Yup. I said as much at the time. UGA and Bama can't hoard 5 stars 3 deep anymore. Those guys are leaving after a year or so if they aren't getting significant reps. And mid tier programs, like OM, can use the portal to replace key starters lost to the draft. It's sooooooooo funny how a majority of college football fans thought that it was going to be the same 4 teams every year in the NIL/transfer portal era and it's the exact opposite. It's not uncommon for people to sit on negative comments about someone or something because your opinion on them at the time is positive, and then air unsavory bits after your opinion on that person or thing changes. Particularly in that case, because Tony V is one of the only (and maybe the only) UT person who actually comes on his show. Also, anything Basilio says about the Tony V decision I refuse to believe. Nothing funnier than him not sharing any issues regarding White/Vitello and then dropping it this weekend. Classic Basilio

The first public comments from "insiders" about previous ongoing discord between Nico's camp and UT/Spyre, Nico not showing up to contractually obligated appearances, Nico being a nice kid but kind of a loner, etc. was after Nakos's reporting about him wanting to transfer. And it was all true. The impression I got is that all of that was kind of known around the program for a while, but people really didn't discuss it because he was our QB.
The way I see it, even if things are 100% chummy between DW and TV (no idea if they are or not), you know TV is still going to take this job. Those running with this narrative are saying it as though if DW and TV were tight, TV would tell the Giants to take a hike. Which is just hilarious.I'll clarify because I did a bad job explaining: I think it's total BS that Basilio is having it seem Tony's main motivation, issues with White, is why he is thinking of leaving and not just a dude with a massive ego thinking he can do something nobody has ever done for more money.
Debatable on the bold partTo say Tony V has an ego issue seems like a massive understatement.
This is like the 3rd time we've had to re-recruit Tony V to stay here. He has some of the best facilities available and up until recently, was the highest paid BB coach in college. At some point, you gotta call a spade a spade.
I think that's a little unfair. He was courted, or was going to be courted, by every major program in the sport and deserved the big raise he got. Now, an MLB team, and not just any MLB team, wants him. Any baseball coach on planet earth, no matter their loyalty to their current job, would strongly consider that.To say Tony V has an ego issue seems like a massive understatement.

I get that. I'm sure it's a big pay increase too. But I would question whether or not SF reached out first. I feel like he likely made it known he was interested, rather than the other way around.I think that's a little unfair. Parity is here and fans will take years to figure out what happened lol. The morons will still call for coaches’ heads with each loss even though a bunch of good teams are going to have 2-3 losses every year; especially once the SEC goes to 9 games.People are still underestimating, or don't realize, how big of an impact the Portal has had on the sport. I think it is possible that over time certain programs get better at Portaling than others, and the parity that we're seeing abates a bit. You already see it, and although it is more likely that programs with more resources are better at it than ones with less, some of the best coaches in the sport at it right now (Lane, Cig, etc.) aren't at traditional power programs.
I love seeing the geographic diversity of teams that are good again. For a while, it was programs in the southeast + Ohio St who were good. I like seeing BYU, Arizona St, Texas Tech, etc. good as well.
