I support Heupel and Banks

Bama got after Joey early and it seemed to change the playcalling all together. Got behind the sticks and couldn't really run the ball. Obvious passing downs dline just pins their ears back and gets after you. No hurry up deal much. It looked out of sorts all night.. Did things in that game they haven't done all year. It was another road dud and that's about what you got to take from it.

Man stop taking words out of context.

I’ve said TWICE now in this thread , that he (Banks) needs to get better during the off-season. He did nothing to address DT or Safety last offseason. That and the injury at CB are a problem.

Heupel has had two subpar offensive seasons compared to his own standard. And of course you DIDNT call for him to get fired. Banks defenses were improving every season until they peaked in 2024. Obviously they took a step back this season. But he’s shown steady improvement since hes been here.

And you can’t just overlook two staring CBs been hurt.
Yes hes NOT playing with a full deck.

Try to be fair for once…
Be fair for once? Lololol

This fun little exchange has been a gentle reminder of why I never usually engage with your goofy, provocative hot takes.

I'm fine with you defending Heupel's program development. His clock management is abysmal, his staff loyalty is going to hold him back, but he has rebuilt us into a very respectable program.

However, if you find reason to defend Tim Banks, I can't help you. The McCoy injury is a fine and legitimate excuse, but we are waaaaay beyond simply missing an All-American corner back. And yes, we are missing Rickey Gibson, too, but Colton Hood has been a more than adequate replacement.
What’s really sad is our LB play, I find it hard to believe that is all we got to offer. And we’d be better off just to lock up man and go after the QB and let them fire deep. We showed last night with the zone strategy against good teams will not work. Bama drover 99 and 91 yards for scores why we waited for our pass rush to get home with 4. Roll the dice and try to get off the damn field. We’ve cried too much saying our offense puts in defense in a bad spot with tempo, but the reality is it really doesnt matter how long our defense gets to rest when we have the ball. We don’t tackle with effort and our secondary is soft in coverage and toughness. Again, I’m going all out more in man coverage and bring pressure. If they beat us, so be it. To beat Oklahoma you gotta get Mateer on the ground

I like Heupel but we aren't going to win any SEC championships with him. Or at least as long as he continues to be loyal to coordinators and assistants who don't merit their positions. He has created a nice family culture and is a player's coach and expect the players like him, but that doesn't make an elite coach. Perhaps we can make the playoffs occasionally and drink the "juice" enough to maintain enthusiasm about the program, but we will not win a national title with him as head coach, in my opinion. I hope I'm wrong and welcome him proving me wrong. His game management/clock management, usage of timeouts etc....to close out the 1st and 2nd halves is average at best and horrible too often. He "puckers" up and gets conservative and at times doesn't even appear to be confident in what he is doing and/or he coaches like he is afraid. The inability to beat good SEC teams on the road will continue to haunt him especially when we start playing 9 SEC teams each year, with every other year playing 5 SEC road games. Good luck with that. Hopefully he will improve but I will believe it when I see it. He has improved the program immensely, but I think our ceiling with him has been reached IF we continue with the same supporting staff.

That last possession in the 1st half yesterday against Bama was "amateur hour". You don't have to be a football savant to know several of the plays and usage of the clock including the final playcall/formation of the half which led to the pick 6 was just dumb. Bad throw by Joey but the coaches put him in a very bad position, and the formation didn't fool anyone, except our own team. And do we even coach players how to tackle?

Whatever it's over...on to Kentucky.
