That missed FG against Georgia

STOP. There were too may things that went wrong before the missed field goal to put it all on Max. Fumble recovery deep in UGA territory ends up with 3pts instead of 7 making it an 8pt one possession game instead of sealing the fate. 4th and 7th, stop them and it's over = touchdown. They have to get the 2pt conversion to tie, stop it and it's over = completed. Then Max missed the field goal. They did everything possible to lose.

Is coming back to bite us. That missed FG by Gilbert that lost us the Georgia game was horrendous. Coming into this game we would be undefeated if Gilbert hits that shot and this loss would be so brutal.
After the season is over that missed FG may be irrelevant. We have to play much better than we have played not to finish 8-4 maybe 7-5? Who knows, I hope not but we are bad in many areas right now

On the flip side, we have had to narrow escapes with Miss State and Arkansas that could have been losses but for a play or two. We have won 2 out of our 3 one score games. That's not bad. I am also glad to see Gunner Stockton is proving to be pretty good and so I feel less bad that he lit us up.

I agree. Drive killing penalties, no ability to make sudden change plays / turnovers into points, sloppy play at key moments, poor clock management, poor tackling. I really like CJH and he HAS made our team hard to beat at home. But even at home . . . We have too many pre-snap penalties and sloppy play.

Last night, I do not think it’s hyperbole to say the combination of penalties, dumb coaching decisions, lack of execution, poor overall play, and the “catastrophic play” that used to happen a lot in the past (the play before half) all looked very much like the buffoonery of earlier regimes that fans roast constantly. It was a clown show.

At this point in the season we are: an above average offense with pre-snap penalty issues that kill drives against good teams, an offense that is increasingly turning the ball over, a very poor defense, and suspect special teams with our FG kicker. Put it all together and we are a middle of the pack SEC team that can play disciplined team football / make clutch plays and go 10-2 OR be mistake prone and be 8-4 or 7-5.

I think we have two more losses coming - Florida and either Oklahoma or Vandy.

I agree 💯 with posts stating the UGA game changed our expectations. I thought we would be 8-4 before the season began with losses to UGA (check) and Bama (check) and two out of Arkansas / Florida / Oklahoma.

Who caused us to miss that kick from the coaching staff?
that kick never happens and georgia never ties the game if we made getting a first down the priority on previous drive. instead we were content with just taking minute off the clock. then again on the drive where we kicked we didn’t try to get it closer and didn’t move the ball to the middle of the field because heupel was afraid (admittedly) of losing more yardage. if we stay in attack mode on offense we probably win 45-30 or 41-30
