I would be shocked if Heupel makes any staff changes this offseason unless someone higher than him puts the pressure on. It’s frustrating because I feel like Josh is a very good coach but he needs to be more cutthroat in regards to trimming the fat.
Good idea as not every fired new coach will pick up a new gig for next season.
Idk who is or is or isn’t a good fit for TN but Heup must try. At worst, there has to be a position coach out there ready for DC, etc.
But, the only way Banks leaves is if he gets a head coaching gig.
To those who say our D will be worse w/o Banks, most head coaches lose good coordinators and reload.
Nah. I said this in the game thread last night. The D line last year was what Dobbs was for Butch Jones. D line bought him a few years. Before that elite line we were ass, after that elite line we are again, ass.I’m totally fine with Banks staying. He had great defense last year and we had some poor timed injuries in our worst position group this season.

Not really worth talking about until Heupel actually makes some changes. I mean there’s plenty of names I would want but who knows if we actually move on from the current staff bc I doubt it.With a lot of coaches being let go this year, that means their staffs may be too.
Changes may need to be made in the off season (even though I’m not convinced they will make any), so are there any out there we might like to have on our staff that may be or become available?
I think Heupel should go get that new UCLA offensive coordinator and their QB since they have gotten hot with the head coach getting fired.

Wasting time my dude. It's going to take another win for these dudes to get off the "FiRe HiM" train. The reality of it, the defense is lacking big pieces and the offense hurts in the red zone right now.Our defensive line leads the league in sacks. Our defensive line can be many thinks but “ass” is something our line is not

Understand your point and appreciate the dialogue instead of attacking ….. but one yr of a stellar D isn’t enough imo. Good coaches do more with less / see Vandy. We knew McCoy would be out so make adjustments. Try something new instead of the other team’s players saying “we knew they were blitzing or …”. It’s up to Heup but our DBs , esp safety, have been a liability for yrs (last yr exception).I’m totally fine with Banks staying. Go bark up another tree boy. I didn't say squat about injuries. Get your **** together.View attachment 782894
Having players injured and out is one thing. This is coaching malpractice by Tim Banks and the defensive staff.
Ohio state for instance.Good idea as not every fired new coach will pick up a new gig for next season.

Vandy may beat us this yr. And it pains me to say that.Come on man you know as well as I do that Nico will transfer to Vandy in the winter portal, somehow become a superstar, and give us hell next year. It’s the Tennessee way.
That is horrendous. Forget injuries. Our 3rd string should be ranked higher that that .View attachment 782894

If you give Diego any room at all , he's gonna burn you with his legs. Our backs playing way back in prevent defense will be eaten alive just like LSU yesterday if we can't adjust.Vandy may beat us this yr. And it pans me to say that.
Vandy’s o line is playing well. They have both a rushing and passing attack. Pavia can make plays w/his arm and legs. Their D gave Bama fits @ Tuscaloosa and LSU, yesterday. They destroyed USCjr on the road. Yes Sellers was knocked out but they ran all over Jr.’s defense.
I’d put the money on Vandy if they played tomorrow. Vandy is playing with confidence and having a good time. Our body language has been the opposite last few weeks, esp defense (after 3rd down conversions).

We get your point ... but you do realize that stats tell something ... however, the interpretation is open as to actual meaning.View attachment 782894

The only interpretation you should be obviously making is no matter the distance we consistently let the opposing offense convert 3rd downs. Anytime we play great offenses we never get pressure on the qb. Tackling let alone the effort is awful. Playing 10 yards off the WRs on a 3rd and short and drop back is idiotic. Anyone that has decent eyesight can see this defense is not being coached well. You don’t need the stats to prove a point. The only coach on defense that shouldn’t be fired is RG that’s it.We get your point ... but you do realize that stats tell something ... however, the interpretation is open as to actual meaning.
STATISTICS are NOT always straight forward in their meaning.
For example,
.... IF you have the toughest schedule in the nation ... and you have "bad" defensive numbers ... those numbers are worsened or mitigated by STRENGTH of SCHEDULE.
... IF you have a lot of injuries at critical positions ... that might explain to some extent "bad" defensive numbers ...
... IF you have a coach that is ONLY thinking about ONE SIDE of the ball (instead of playing 'complimentary' football) ... that might explain SOME of the "bad" defensive numbers.
I will leave you to your imagination and mental gymnastics and hope that you can come up with the rest of the list ... once the light has come on ...
BEFORE anyone claims that I cannot see that we have defensive woes and issues ... rest assured, I certainly do ... but I will resist the temptation to place blame ... but all that will change will we have nothing but 5 and 4 star players on the defensive side of the ball. :^)))))))))
We didn’t know Gipson would get hurt week 1.
Even then, we lead the league in sacks and force 2 takeaways a game. It ain’t all doom and gloom on our defense.
