And have a WORSE record against top 25 teams???
I doubt we would, has the one we got done any better?? I mean the one we got now can't even manage a Damn Clock and Would rather Pass despite our Strong Run. So Nah I could take a chance with Franklin all day long

So, if the Vols head coaching position opened up tomorrow, you're saying we should hire Franklin???
Not me, not never for your top three...
If we were in that position, he’d be my #3 choice.
If the job opened up, here's who I would go after:

1. Nick Saban (because you just do that)
2. Lane Kiffin
3. James Franklin
4. Clark Lea
5. Arizona state coach (idk his name)
6. Dan Mullen
7. Dabo Sweeney
8. Alex Golesch
9. Gus Malzahn
10. Eric Morris

Saban never coming back, why on earth would he want to give up golf and a great job in college football without the stress of managing a team?

Franklin would be a good pick up for Florida.

Alex G would be a great hire for a team as well.
Maybe Franklin will take Banks with him

My list for any big opening is simple.

1- Kiffin
2- Mullen
3- Franklin

Honorable mention would be Dabo if and only if there were assurances made in the interview process.

I like that you agreed on Mullen, lots of people **** on him, he's a great coach. I wanted him badly at Tennessee.

I have always been a Kiffin fan

He's coaching better the older he gets

No way the go with Golesh, they have to get a big name. Franklin is the choice and I really hope he brings along Tim Banks.
This time around they almost have to get a big name.

The Billy nappier hire was pretty underwhelming although the media tried to hype it up

Every SEC team should have taken note after Tennessee hired Dooley, never hire a sunbelt, wac or whatever it is now as your HC in the SEC

Has their ever been a success HC in the SEC from that conference?

I thought Currie could have been great AD had he landed Mullen in 2017 search. After Schiano Sunday, I wanted Kiffin back since he was the only coach lobbying for the job in public media. Especially once we were down to Dave Doeren, Mel Tucker, and Jeremy Pruitt.

Regardless of feelings on Kiffin, no one with any brain cells would say Kiffin would have done anything similar to the Pruitt years.

They have given Stricklin a long leash.
Hope he screws up again.
I wouldn't be surprised if they start to panic hire and go after some really odd or obscure names like Urban Meyer, Stoops, etc

Although Napier is a bad coach in the SEC, knowing all these teams going after coaches, I would have kept him another year unless I know I have a guy lined up
