I think the worst thing about that play other than being called was how it was setup. That should have probably been the play before and then we don’t waste timeout if it’s incomplete and they wouldn’t have seen it coming. And if it didn’t work we run after and use the timeout after that if we have to.He had a guy in his face (to the right) and another guy right in front of him. He couldn’t zip it. That ball was picked off either way. The defender dictated that throw
He played about as good as he could have against uga
I do think he made some very costly mistakes last night that cost the game though. The safety was on him, a couple bad passes stalled drives (although made a lot more good passes) and the pick six while was terrible call he shoulda throw it in the stands
I’m not saying fire Banks but he was a benefactor last year of one of the best DLines in the country. Made his job a ton easier. Safety is maybe the weakest link on the team and is his position group. He brought in hobby and littrell
That’s good people
Jim Chaney is helping
Bama wanted inge
Everyone loved banks last year
Lost 2 top cbs
Young lbs
Safety play is bad and I do blame banks for that
Need to portal guys
What's funny is... Our fans did the same thing when Franklin was rumored in 2021 when we were waaaay more down than Florida is right now.Anytime a Gator fan mentions him on any of their boards, they are shot down and drowned out. It would be an elite hire for them and the fans would still be disappointed.
Ya I’m saying uga was about as mistake free as you’ll find from a QB. Especially in college. The Staley slip wasn’t a mistake and the 3rd and long heave which was basically a punt wasn’t either. I don’t think he was sacked, he completed a high % of throws, 375 yards. The only real mistakes you could maybe say was our 2nd to last drive if they were RPO/read options he shoulda kept 2 of themJust realize, I'm saying mistake free. It's a much higher bar than "good enough"
He doesn't have the luxury of great defensive play like Nico and even Joe got. Hell even Hooker had better defensive play than this in 2022...that's what's so frustrating -this- year is our worst defense in Heupel's tenure.
2021 (year 1) defense gave up 29.1 points a game and 421.7 total yards.
2025 defense is giving up 30.4 points a game and 390.9 total yards.
I think safety play is the one of the two iunexcusable parts of this team. I can overlook corner play with 2 injuries but our safety room is a result of roster mismanagement and lack of developmentI’m not saying fire Banks but he was a benefactor last year of one of the best DLines in the country. The DL is still great. He also lost the majority of his secondary in McCoy, Gibson, Thomas, Brooks and a motivated Boo Carter.I’m not saying fire Banks but he was a benefactor last year of one of the best DLines in the country. Don’t think I was blaming players just stating we have some pretty glaring deficiencies. You can blame the coaches or players. Probably some of both. Ultimately it’s the coaches responsibility but the other team is paying their players and coaches also. By most metrics Alabama still has a more talented roster. I just don’t live and die by the results of a college football game. Why is it always the players and personnel?
Isn’t it the coaches job to get the right players and portal for needs?
I get tired of always it’s players faults. This game didn’t scream a player issue. It was a lack of effort on some plays and stupid play calls.
You don’t throw at the end of the half from the one. At worst you kick a field goal or miss a run in. And it’s a one score game.
We went man for a few series and got some stops. Then switched back to zone and got killed. Why switch? We could have had a three and out to start the game and a long third down and we went to Banks third and done and it was automatic.
Bingo.
Also who has Banks really brought in to that room that's been even great?
Will Brooks = walk-on and even with how well he played in his last year was he really great?
2026 class... Jowell Combay, KJ McClain & Luke Thompson all 3 outside top 45 at their position
2025 class... Sidney Walton the only S recruited and our lowest rated
2024 class... John Slaughter & Jack Luttrell 3 stars and neither even on the team now
2023 class... Jourdan Thomas still not playing even in 2 deep
Just don't get it.... secondary is the issue every year and it's like Banks/Willie think they're elite player development guys or something. But all the best production has come from dudes that came here in the portal and were developed elsewhere.
Uh Jourdan Thomas has a pretty good reason not to be in the 2-deep.
