The offensive PI was the correct call - Brazzell was across the line of scrimmage so Staley couln‘t block…it’s a mental mistake on our part

In NCAA football, offensive players can block downfield on passes thrown behind the line of scrimmage, making plays like screen passes more effective. Unlike the NFL, the NCAA rule allows offensive linemen and other ineligible receivers to cross the line of scrimmage and block for the ball-carrier once the ball is caught behind the line of scrimmage. This rule does not apply if the pass crosses the line of scrimmage before it is caught.
So no, its not about being close to the line - the pass must be caught behind the line…that on is on Brazzell
