It's not Sankeys call. Why does it matter that Gruden wants to coach in the SEC? I doubt Sankey would want that black eye. And how would it be worth it? The Raiders decided it wasn't worth it!
The Raiders were pressured by outside noise and not because he was unsuccessful. He did a complete overhaul and it was starting to turn. He got screwed in my opinion. Why does it matter that Gruden wants to coach in the SEC? I doubt Sankey would want that black eye. And how would it be worth it? The Raiders decided it wasn't worth it!
I don't know for sure that he was offered the job it but it sounds like he was:Absolutely, if he was ever offered?
I don't think he's a fit anywhere right now, to be honest. The game has passed him by, he's not a larger than life personality a la Deion and recruits weren't even born when when he coached his last game in Tampa. Let's not forget that Jon didn't exactly set the world on fire when he helmed the Raiders for the second time.
We see how poorly Belichick meshed at UNC and he has six rings (including several rather recent ones), does Jon's Barstool stint really render him deserving of a college gig?
He'd "fit" best at Florida given the access to resources (players), but they'd be nuts to cast a line on him.
Agreed.This. Gruden’s firepower left him years ago. His prime time to lure recruits would’ve been 2010-2018 when he was all over espn and pre NIL. Hes been off of tv for so long that most of these kids don’t even care about him.
Belichick never coached in college before he became UNC's coach. You mean the two guys who spent most of their coaching career in Cfb?
Gruden hasn’t coached Cfb since 1991. Much like Belichick who hadn’t coached cfb since the 80s. I don’t think he’s comparable whatsoever to Saban and Spurrier, in that regard.
Could it be because no one besides Barstool will give him a platform?Belichick never coached in college before he became UNC's coach.
Plus he came in with all of his arrogance about making UNC the 33rd NFL team and he had a whole new approach to something he had zero experience with. And then there's Jordon, trying to trademark a bunch of phrases and the canceled NetFlix show.
I don't see Gruden making any of those mistakes.
