It's really weird to me that more of these authors don't get called out for how twisted and perverted they are. I read 'It' by Stephen King as a Freshman in HS. That book is the grossest most pedophilic piece of Literature I've ever read. I didn't know what to think. But you never hear anyone even discuss that part of the book! It's not in any of the films/series!

I need to read "IT" again.........I don't remember all that. It's been 30 odd years ago.

I think Star Wars was just not very well planned between sequels. GoTs is based on actual history, and the actual royalty/people those characters were based on were into incest. I mean, when you think your bloodline is the end all, be all... Your twisted viewpoint is to keep it all in the family.

Stephen King and IT. Yah. People should push back on that.

I've never understood how King gets a massive pass instead of being canceled. JK Rowling can't say she believes kids shouldn't be allowed to change genders, but King can write that stuff?!??!

That's a stretch. He is a genius author, I agree though. He Dark Tower series is one of my favorites ever. That shouldn't exempt him from suffering social consequences of disgusting writing though.

Also, he's a huge egomaniac. And I've sworn him off forever for recommending the Dark Tower movie as "something any fan of the book will love." He lied right through his teeth to all his loyal fans to make a few extra bucks, so he's dead to me.

Do you think I expected to pick up a horror novel and read what I ended up reading? I assure you I didn't and I didn't read it a second time. Do you even know the part of the novel I'm referring to? It's sort of indefensible. I have read LOTS of books in my life and never encountered anything quite like that.

No one warned me about Oscar Wilde before I read Dorian Gray. . .

His egomania lost me. The first books of Dark Tower are still some of my favorite reading ever. But he seems to have lost his mind and much of his talent to pure ego. The entire series just pissed down its own leg as it went on, until it ended with sad whimpers.

Ya, the first half was probably among the best fantasy books I've ever read.

When he inserted himself into the series, it went downhill fast.

Still even just for the first half, I love that series. I think I remember he had his major near death accident while writing the series, so maybe he lost his wits then?

I completely agree with that. Forcing fumbles where the QB is rolling out and surrounded by defenders is a skill and recovering most of those is not chance. Y’all are good at it.

But fumble recoveries are weird, fickle, and even unfair. Do you remember that game in Knoxville a few years back where a UT defender gets a blindside strip sack on the UGA QB, only to have the ball bounce to a UGA TE who runs it like 20 yards for a TD? Defense did everything right, offense scores by sheer dumb luck (okay it was a heads up play by the TE but still).

It’s a cruel sport with a weird shaped ball that bounces funny.

It can be random, but a wise FB brain also built a maxim around it - which was the source of this original discussion. I think we do an elite job pressing for chaos opportunities (breaks) on defense. At least when we aren't lost in space or taking bad angles lol.

We do not always do an elite job scoring when they come. We must do that part to beat Bama.

Play for and make the breaks. When one comes your way—SCORE.

What the heck am I missing here? Is there any good reason they should be an 8.5pt favorite over us besides the logo on their helmet?

We’ve got one of the best offenses on the country for running and passing and a defense that does have some flaws but is getting multiple turnovers per game and living in the backfield. Alabama has a potent passing game, but a notably average rushing attack that is probably going to be without their leading rusher.

I’m just not understanding why we’re being counted out. We’ve won 2 out of the last 3 for Smokey’s sake!

We've barely beaten Arky and Miss St. If we had smashed them, it'd be a 2-3 pt game on the road, aka an even game on a neutral field.

Simpson has also been surprisingly steady.

Don't think the spread is far off, though I have it closer to 7.5 to 8. Remember we had a similar spread vs UGA. And we played beneath our spreads the last 2 SEC games.

We can play up...and down. Now we need to play up AND on the road. Tough test. Last big time road win...prolly LSU 2022. We need the offense from the UGA game and the all-around defense we haven't seen yet.

It was ego. When you fictionalize the real person that hit you, and demonize them to the world, the ego has entered the picture. lol


(And that's beside the whole idea of making yourself the god of the universe--though I cut him some slack there as I see the literary motif at work. But still...)
