President Donald Trump - J.D. Vance Administration

Is that what the storm troopers told you. The storm troopers crossed the street to confront protestors, they were looking for a reason to assault and arrest. They make up reasons as they go to deny citizens the right of peaceful protest.
Can you give me a link? If you can't prove it, don't share it.

I don't think that makes a difference in something being genocidal, or not. whether the genocide is intentional, or reactionary, doesn't make it less genocidal.

especially when the reality is Israel has destroyed what they wanted, which at the very least in the fog of war sense, includes more than strictly Hamas and their shields. and given various actions by the israeli military against civilians I would say it goes beyond fog of war collateral damage. There have been multiple times Israel has bombed refugee camps they established as "safe zones"; and other cases of them creating a "safe zone" and then hitting that area too.

Its been a while since I checked, but I am pretty sure more palestinians have died due to lack of aid and basics than military action. It also doesn't make it less genocidal if only some of the genocide is due to violence, while the rest is due to willful neglect and denial of basic needs.
You've made an analogy to WW2.

Was America genocidal against Germans/Austrians or trying to eliminate the Nazis?

I wasn’t on VN during the World Wars, but I’m pretty sure or would hope at least that there would have been few to no posters defending and rooting for him like there are today defending Hamas. Hitler openly said his goal was the extinction of the Jews, pretty big differences there.

Hate to break it to you but if the past couple of generations were around during the world wars then we would be speaking German or Japanese.

We would be lectured on how the bombing of Pearl Harbor were our own faults.

Good times create weak men and weak men create hard times.

You forgot the last part. Hard times create strong men.

It's cyclical. Always has been.

Can't wait to see what a grizzled, battlescarred remote mech pilot looks like in 2070.

Nope that’s the first part.

It is cyclical so we will be a strong nation once again once the likes of Trump and Biden are gone.

being strong doesn’t mean you have to be a warrior or fighter.

Or is it? 🤌

It's going to take longer than that, sadly. The real problem are the people who enthusiastically vote for men of their low caliber.

You're preaching to the choir. I think our modern brand of masculinity is a ****ing joke.

I think its an interesting discussion, I couldn't find any hardline percentage on what is considered "genocidal" vs "just war" to give me a solid reference point. I would say you would need to only look at civilian populations lost. killing soldiers is pretty much always going to be an act of war.

Palestine has lost 3-5% of its civilian pop. Germany lost .6% of their civilian pop. Japanese civilian losses were much worse than german, about 1.4% of their civilian pop. for reference approx 30% of the worldwide Jewish population was lost to the Holocaust.

based on my completely arbitrary "feels" I would argue our treatment of the germans wasn't genocidal, but the japanese could be argued as genocidal.

especially as at some point we were directly fighting in Germany, we never made it to Japanese soil.

I appreciate you saying it is an arbitrary call.

The threshold for genocide seems very low to me.

Another question wrt Palestinian civilians for which there is no good data is, what classifies someone as a civilian and who is doing the classification?

A federal judge on Wednesday temporarily blocked the Trump administration's mass layoffs as the government shutdown drags on, pausing the job cuts for thousands of American workers.

U.S. District Judge Susan Illston granted a request by two unions to stop layoffs at more than 30 agencies. She said President Donald Trump and his top aides have made several comments showing explicit political motivations for the layoffs, such as Trump saying that cuts would target "Democrat agencies."

"You can't do that in a nation of laws. And we have laws here, and the things that are being articulated here are not within the law," said Illston, an appointee of Democratic former President Bill Clinton.

to the last, that is why I offered the range of losses. it covers the two extremes.

even on the low end claimed by Israel the percentage lost is twice what japan lost and 6x what the germans lost.

as far as it being low, I think that is pretty natural. I am sure it has happened, but I can't think of a situation where a population was wiped out 100%, within lets say a generation. even 50% I can only find going back to the roman era, the classic example these days is the holocaust so the "ceiling" for genocide seems to be 30%. so you aren't comparing 3% to 100%, its 3 to 30, which is still a big difference, but a lot closer. what would your threshold be, I am not set on anything.

for what its worth, the definition of genocide includes "doing harm" not just deaths. so I think that definitely covers a lot more of any of these populations.

Most divisive President ever. He is the President of MAGA, not the President of the United States.

Lol. Why would China do that?? What a moron.
