I just glanced at the Florida board. They are PISSED that Penn State spent 50 million to get rid of Franklin and their UAA won't pay the 10 million it would take up-front to fire Billy Napier. It's a hilarious sight. They are all attacking each other and the moderators.

I've been pointing this out for a long time. We let a safety walk in the portal because he was asking for more than we've budgeted to spend on safeties. It's a conscious decision. We also don't typically go after the 5-star CBs either because we have great DB coaches who can coach guys up. Anyone want to make the argument Jermod McCoy doesn't have a better career than dozens of guys who were ranked higher than him coming out of HS? We are willing to pay to keep top corners but we spend far less on safety. And we can always address any holes in the portal. It's not about not having the money to spend on safeties, it's about prioritizing positions the coaches place a higher priority on. We may not have the best safety room in the SEC, but how many teams have a better DL/Edge/Lb room?

Is this an actual suggestion that our DC went to the HC and AD and presented an argument that he needed more $ to put championship caliber safties on the field and was rebuffed?

Because there is no evidence in anything that has happened since DW arrived to support that. IN FACT, what happened after the Rodney Rice debacle last BBall offseason would suggest that any deficits would have been proactively addressed.

I get defending against the "he's awful" crowd beccause he isn't awful. He also isn't championship caliber. But claiming he isn't getting financial supoort rings very hollow!

He’s not claiming he’s not getting financial support. He’s saying there is an NIL budget for football. And it’s very possible and perhaps even likely that the staff overall values other position groups more so they allocate more of their resources to those groups.

I think Penn State also made a statement with the firing of Franklin that they are the best job available. If they are willing to spend 50 million dollars to buyout a coach, then clearly they are planning on giving the next guy what it takes to compete. I don't think any open job is close. We'll see what else opens up. I never would have predicted this many in-season firings.

I saw that play live and said the same and loved it and said play him more.

Next play he fills the wrong gap and the RB breaks off a big run.

So there’s talent there that can’t be coached. But I saw the freshman in him also. Hopefully they can get him ready this week!
