“get, the checkbook out” in regards to a comment about getting Shabazz back.

He then clarified AFTER my question that he meant for the increase in roster size.

People were literally talking about getting Shabazz back, and matching money with UNC- for which I was like “why”.

Because he absolutely isn’t worth a bidding war.

I'm not coming down on you or anyone else. You missed the point. It happens. I've done it too. I understood what he meant because his "checkbook" comment was a direct response to Marco's post about the increase in scholarships, not a post about Shabazz. Regardless, I agree that we just need to let Shabazz go. No need to overpay for a guy who likely ends up at Guard (at least at UT he would).

I’m bumping this due to the Belichick smoke out there today.

Maybe the kids burned his bridge here but my hope is we’ve stayed in touch. Very unlikely that recruiting class sticks and I’d love to have Shabazz back in ours.

No thanks. He had his opportunity and we have a solid OL class already. We’re not a back-up plan to a program like UNC.

Per AP, Shabazz would need to come off his asking price. Not to mention there are other options the staff are looking at for the 26 class

1) did AP mention who those other options are?

2) I’d offer him $1 for his first year and then say we’ll renegotiate after that year

I’m not going to close down talks to a kid just bc he got more money to go elsewhere. Same thing happened with Blair.

Now that said I don’t think this kid is worth as much as Blair and I think we have similar options that may come cheaper. So i definitely could see us passing here.
