my parents never did that, but they made sure we all took schooling seriously. in 5th grade I got a D once, and they requested a meeting with the teacher, and we figured out what the issue was. Young Louder wasn't turning in his homework because it was the first time the teacher wasn't going around to collect it. student was the problem, not the school. they made sure I was more proactive from then on.

maybe having to pay for the private education helps some parents realize they need to take the education seriously; but now days I think its more helicopter and privilege parents.

Actually I did, go look at his posts. Completely unhinged lunatic, the only thing is he is a very weak person - so society has at least that going for it. That is why he hides it from his family.

Houston & Collierville have outstanding athletics as well. Like I said, we couldn’t be happier.

I grew up in Public schools, before ultimately doing 10-12 grades in Private.

I think there’s something to be said for being socialized in a Public school setting. That exposure affords children an experience they might not get in a Private setting.

Now, there was no way in hell I was going to expose my daughters to the “socializing experience” that would have come with Memphis City Schools. But Germantown? Absolutely.

I would have to do more research but it appears doctors are paid much less in Canada than the US. How would we convince young adults to spend $300,000 and 15 years of their lives to choose a profession that may limit their income and ROI?

I’m not a tax expert, I’m sure there others that could wax poetic on the tax structure options and the pros/cons of each option. I assume since we are entrenched in our current system there would have to be some transition period where we move in phases from a primary payor model into a single payor model.

As far as Canadian physicians being paid less, you’re getting into the weeds with a separate issue, cost of higher education. Though, 15 years is a bit of an overestimation, typically it’s 12ish years depending on specialty, fellowship, research, etc. I believe you’re also assuming a Canadian education costs as much as a US education, which I do not believe is the case for Canadian citizens who are educated in Canada. From the little research I’ve done it seems you can get a medical degree in Canada for under $70,000 on average, while in the US it’s well over $300,000 as you stated. So, the ROI problem seems to be a tuition issue and not a healthcare system issue.
