I have nieces in various parts of the country who went to great public schools and were granted early admission to Baylor, University of Texas, USC, Stanford and Tulane. The ones I am referring to are municipal school districts open for residents of Germantown, Collierville, and Arlington. They are public schools. The funding per pupil is less than SCS.
I didnt even get into some of these religious private schools where the quality of education varies widely.
Id agree with you that most private schools are better but it's not uncommon for wealthier suburban district public schools to outperform religious based private schools where education isnt always the first focus...
You're views are incredibly distorted with a negative bias against public education. And what do those very few examples have in common with the private schools?
There are “public schools” that absolutely are not public schools.
Edit: for example there are a couple of those supposedly public schools in Chattanooga that are not far behind on academic standards. ….but….just like private schools they’re not open enrollment. You have to apply to get in and meet a standard. Had I not been able to afford private education I would have absolutely gone that route.

The right wing has long made a concerted effort to portray public education in the worst possible way. (to the detriment to society at large - but that is their thing)
The public/private education debate is so much more than you evidently care to consider.
It would make a great thread.
That's an excellent point. An observation I don't see anybody else discussing about public school quality is the accelerated paths inside a large school. That's what one of my kids did.
He attended the largest school in the county but he was in the honors curriculum. Had it's own teachers and own hall of the school. Those kids scored exceptionally well and had a lot of opportunity for higher education. Even though the overall scores for the school are lower than average.
My son attending that school was conditional that he was only in AP/Honors. I was for more intimidated by a 2000 student school than he was. He did well academically. He also took advantage of extra curriculars a school of that size offers. That's an excellent point.
I always tell people who are evaluating schools to look at the quintiles. If your kid is in the upper 20%, then your focus should be on how that group performs in the school.
A school's overall data/numbers can be very misleading.
I know of many public schools where the top 10-20% outperform the top students at any surrounding private school.
The other thing that many fail to consider is that most private schools are strictly college prep. So their totals should only really be compared to the public school's top 10%-40% ----- depending on the college rates of the school.
Public schools in my district offer dozens of career readiness pathways - agriculture, welding, construction, cosmetology, culinary, transportation/warehouse etc...
Sometimes a post simply speaks for itself. It's fascinating to see how polluted some minds have become.
I have health care ,p*** on everybody else, just what Jesus instructed Christians to do. And you claim to be the party of family values.
You and him are insane. Nobody is portraying it for anything but what it is. He and you are unhinged lunatics. I might be an idiot but you for sure are insane.
There is obviously some poison in our environment.Yes, you calling people every name in the book is something to see. This is why you hide all these views from your family members.
Just call the Orange man Hitler out in a normal public place and watch all the people scramble from the nut guy.
Luther, I'm not the one melting down every day and yes you have been melting, and the best place for you was probably off the board as mentality you are pudding. (there isn't anything I can do about that but to encourage you to try and help yourself)

Opinions vary as does your location but overall public education is an absolute disaster in this country and it’s only getting worseThere are public schools that are at least as good as private. There's not just a "few" of them either. Those that don't require special applications either. Far more of those than the type you mentioned. Of course the great public schools are in high property tax districts and mostly available to only the kids living in those upper middle - upper class districts. So it's all about funding or a lack of it
Not what I asked you. How long will ObamaCare need tax credits to function. Why should taxpayers pay for it
