I mean, he does have a better 3rd down defense than Bama, Georgia, South Carolina, Michigan, Vandy, etc with 4 starters out., and is coming off a season where his defense was top 10 in pretty much every important statistical category.

The dude lost a first and second rounder to the NFL as well as some of his most experienced DTs to graduation and is playing a bunch of guys who were in high school a year ago. We're only 5 games in. Good teams get better as the season goes on. And we're a good team.
I think people widely fail to grasp how difficult it is to defend modern college football. We only scrutinize our own defense and watch every play and fail to recognize even an average player on our defense is better than 80-90% of CFB defenders and a subpar game performance by the defense is still better than 90% of what other defenses could've done that day.

We are a statistically great defense again.
 
This is exactly why the narrative of "his camp" bs needs to stop. He got hurt in January of 2025, based on the average NFL recovery time, he would be cleared to return in to games in 13.6 months, which is after the 2025 National Championship Game...so yea im sure there are some in his camp that would recommend focusing on the Draft, but it sounds like he is doing everything he can to return before that. If he doesn't, it shouldn't be held against him and he shouldn't be labeled a "pussy fraud" for it. I don't blame you for having this logic, I blame all the jackwagons trying to get e-cred by spouting it over and over.

Again, the dude had ACL surgery 8 and a half months ago. It is not normal to come back that fast.
I said as clearly as I knew how...IF it was true. If he never shows up to play, we will never know for sure if he "did all he could" or not.

My statement about it being a "fraud pussy move" is true if our staff and money people have been led on in order to keep collecting his big NIL checks..but in truth we will never know whether that was the case or not..

Once again, if he shows up and plays at some point..that proves the rumors were untrue...if he doesn't, it will be up to each of us what we believe about the "Why" he didn't show up....and a lot of us, probably including me, are going to believe we were duped.

Banks is basically a contain guy who will turn up the heat if he thinks he has the advantage. And frankly he really doesn't need to be super aggressive, we are going to score. He is about tfls, turnovers, and avoiding explosives. This the modern way of defense, the General would agree.
The team that makes the fewest mistakes wins.
Play for and make the breaks. When one comes your way - SCORE.
He is a "bend but don't break" guy, which is fine, there have been a ton of great defenses that follow that philiosophy...the problem with Banks philosophy is years like this and 22 where we bend AND break.

We do not stiffen up the more the field shrinks, the closer the other team gets to the goal line...we simply let them on in instead of forcing a lot of FGs.

Even the scrub teams have been scoring TDs at a high rate when they get past the 30...that needs to change. We need to force more field goals.

In what world are we a statistically great defense again?

I know many have argued that the stats don't tell the whole story... Fine. Seems like a cope to me but that's fine.

But we are statistically great? What statistics? We're last in scoring defense and 14th in total defense in the SEC.

To me it all depends on body type, mesomorph, ecto, endomorph. Age, genetics, etc. My recommendation is Strength training starts early in day with trunk muscles. 1 hour of cardio in addition

Later in day 20 lb weights hit the detail work. So the, 'I'm just working out in back yard,' **** is ****.

If a man lifts 20 lb weights all day, to high repetition. Esp if he's a naturally sinewy person, but you're just adding muscle onto.

That's if you want to be shredded.

A diet of lean chicken, nuts, etc doesnt hurt either. South Beach is an old tried and true regimin. Although i'm sure it has changed exponentially in recent years.

you could probably get very lean and have great definition but no, you aren't going to be able to put on much bulk muscle without lifting very heavy weight. low rep heavy weight is the method for putting on alot of mass.

Somatotypes have nothing to do with how we should eat and train, the terms were created in a research paper on the personality types of swimmers.

There’s going to be an upper limit with how big someone can get with 20lb dumbbells especially lower body but if they train as many times per week as recoverably possible they can still blow up. When I started doing lateral raises every day my delts blew up and just that change alone can make your physique look that much bigger.

There is a relationship between strength and muscle cross-sectional area but that's not completely true. Look up Anatoly on Youtube, he outlifts people way bigger than him.

Ehhh in skeptical you can get very large and very ripped with just 20s. But even with steroids and 20s I'm skeptical. Steroids only gives you the energy to lift more, it doesn't make you ripped if you're not lifting right.

Depends on what he is doing. If he’s really tiring and wearing out the muscle then maybe. I’ve just always found it hard to get super jacked without progressive overloading.

I’ll hold my true thoughts on banks so I don’t get attacked. I don’t like excuses and I feel like we like to try to use excuses too much. Offense lost way more and went and got better with scheme changes and new players.

Probably depends pretty significantly on your definition of “ripped.” But doing calisthenics type bodyweight work can be effective, so just depends what he’s doing.

Bigger question to me is- what does eating in the backyard have to do with it?

Is he shredded, or is he “big”?

Hypertrophy can get you shredded if you do enough reps even with light weight, but to get “big” with only 20lb dumbbells you would need to be chemically supplementing.

I'm not sure he's actually put on a lot of mass. Looks like he's just rearranged the shape of his body, if that makes sense.
