Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

I was brainwashed. My mother and grandfather were huge Yankee fans (from Lexington, Tennessee and Jackson Tennessee)

I was raised with this phrase: “I’m a Tennessean first, a Southerner second, and an American third.”

Go figure…….
I have always contended that your favorite teams depend on whether you like your Daddy or not. If you like your Daddy then his favorite teams become yours, if not your teams will be the ones your Daddy hates the most.
My Granddad was a Dodgers fan, so of course my Daddy was a Yankees fan. I became a Yankee fan because I liked my Daddy and I also like to eat regular.

I was a Steelers fan because my brother liked the Cowboys, 😂. . . plus, I liked that their helmets were the only ones with a logo on just one side

Xavien Howard has been starting at corner for the Colts this season, and played pretty well first 3 games. He got burned against the Rams on Sunday. Guess he had enough, because he retired yesterday.

Exactly, Grandfather and Father were Dodgers Fans, so that's who I am a fan of, just as my Grandkids are Dodgers fans because they love pop more than dad.😏

Unless your daddy didn't follow sports.. in that case, you choose the dominant teams during your formative years. Cowboys, Lakers, Reds.

Believe it’s a fairly common thing to happen when the state you live in introduces a new professional sports team
Unless you live in Florida. People seem to stay with the team they followed as youngsters. Transplants keep their former city's team. That's why when the Giants come to play the Bucs, 1/2 the stadium is Giants fans.

The people in charge of college athletics hate college athletics.

They are slaves to “shareholders” like everything else now. There is no escape from late stage capitalism in anything anymore. If it doesn’t make someone rich, it’s worthless. If it makes someone rich, it needs to make someone more rich. Anything else is unacceptable.

I'm surprised the NBA Finals and the World Series don't always go 7 games. It's a business at the end of the day. There will be 16+ teams in the CFP sooner or later. College football was always great because every game meant so much and was nearly a must-win. We may see teams rest their starters in their 12th game.
