Boycott ABC, ESPN & All Disney Products and Properties

Gonna be funny to see how this plays out with the affiliates. Is Sinclair going to make him apologize to somebody he didn't wrong? Is an apology worth anything if it's not warranted and the person doesn't mean it? Is Sinclair willing to be stubborn about this and lose $?
Money is going to be lost no matter what

Sinclair isn’t gonna do ****. Their owner has already decreed that Jimmy’s coming back so they can **** off.

Good research hog. But oh by the way, what did Kimmel say that was illegal. Going into a movie theater and yelling fire is illegal. What Kimmel did was not illegal.

Sucks to be you I guess

You completely missed the point which is not surprising.

Heh. I am hardheaded. What is your point?

If you read the whole exchange you were in support of people being punished for speaking out against covid restrictions and mandates, so you are not a big 1A supporter unless the speech aligns with your beliefs. Lots of receipts for a lot of people in those covid threads

your post on #388 didn't say anything about ILLEGAL speech. you made the flat statement of not supporting the government going after 1A speech.

hog posted proof of you being fine of the government going after 1A speech. he didn't make any linkage to illegal or not, that was you trying to deflect.

You have an impressive ability to predict the opposite. You and LG really have a gift in that regard.

Sinclair welched on its decision to air a Charlie Kirk special on Friday night in place of Kimmel and just showed Family Feud reruns instead. 😆 Imagine being Kirk's Mom and tuning in only to find Richard Dawson. Sinclair owes the Kirk family an apology more than Kimmel does.

Is that what they're going to show tonight? Kimmel's going to have a big audience tonight and they're going to forego that, just to prove a point that completely misses the mark? Not only is it more people, it's a new audience.

And let's be clear. Even if late night show ratings are down, Kimmel is on every night and he averages about half the audience of the biggest weekly shows. It's still one of the most successful shows on network TV, ratings-wise.

It’s sad what the garbage of society thinks is funny

They really don’t even understand what „funny“ is. Their sense of self righteous virtue doesn’t allow for true humour. Normal humour works well for people who can laugh at themselves. Liberals are 100 percent incapable of that.
I don’t know who coined the term „clapter“ (combination of clapping and laughter) but that is what you hear from late night audiences. They are not finding joy in the incongruous; they are cheering on attacks on their opponents.

I blame laugh tracks. honestly take away the cued, or recorded laughter, and most people wouldn't recognize they were making a joke.

the use of the staged laughter relies on peer pressure on the audience to join in, rather than being actually funny.

the financials aren't that clear cut.

it appears that affiliates pay networks for programming - Sinclair could still net positive if the cost reduction in what they air makes up for any loss in advertising revenues.

Kimmel is going to get a one time bounce in viewership - doubtful that "new viewers" are staying in any meaningful numbers

Sinclair may lose viewers for their other programming if they keep Kimmel and that could outweigh the Kimmel revenue

bottomline, Sinclair is making a business decision

Have some self-awareness. We were promised that comedy would be legalized again (by one of the unfunniest try-hards on the planet) and a few months later Kimmel was pulled from the air because the leadup to his joke was perceived to be inaccurate to the point that right-wingers were grossly offended.

I see this convo all the time, and it's perplexing that people on either side would look at the people griping about comedy as representative of that side as a whole. Both sides have their sacred cows. Both sides have inappropriate stuff they will laugh at. Most people aren't funny nor do they have good taste in comedy.

IDK their financials, but I think it's safe to assume Kimmel was making them more money than FF reruns, otherwise why wouldn't they already be doing that?

they have 23 other hours of programming - the Kimmel comments could be losing them viewers across the spectrum - hell, this thread is about boycotting an entire media conglomerate because of one decision.

point is, I doubt Sinclair is just being stubborn - they are running a business and weighing the options to maximize profits.

Are you old enough to remember watching Carson? If so; do you recognize the difference I. The way you felt watching Carson vs Kimmel and Colbert?
With Carson my laughter was gracious, joyful, and expansive. He made me laugh at the absurdity of life and the absurdity in ourselves.
The „laughter“ you hear in late night now is sardonic and hateful. It is laughing down at your opponent.
FWIW; I sometimes watch Gutfeld. I will sometimes chuckle at this digs as liberals. But I will never confuse those moments with true comedy. They don’t enlarge my spirit. They narrow it.
Ps. I have quite a bit of self awareness. I know that I am often a jerk and that I let my anger be more hated that I want to be. I am hypocritical. And I am not gracious and forgiving in the same way that Erika Kirk was on Sunday. But I see these as failures on which I need to continuously work.
And I really need to start by not being so mean towards YOU. Even if I totally disagree with you on just about everything; I wish you only the best and I will really try to be less snarky.
I hope you can forgive me.
