Annual Opponents Bama, Vandy, and UK

Again, you all keep saying we get an "easy" draw, but all it does is leave more "difficult" teams to fill out the rest. We're going to get them anyway. Just like the teams with "hard" draws are going to get "easy" teams anyway.

With six additional games there will be no easy path. It's extremely simple math.

We made out like bandits lol.

We did, but in a sense, Texas did even more. I mean, just look at them. They ditched the conference they ran into the ground, jumped to the SEC, and effectively got their old Southwest Conference rivalries back -- all while getting paid gigantic SEC conference checks. There's never been any debate, any at all, about them getting Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M. They've gotten what they wanted the whole way. That's a little bit ninja.

two types of schedules. one difficult opponent and two difficult opponents. We are in the "one" category for the next 4 years. Doesn't that mean our rotating will be more difficult than those in the "two" category?

auburn....oof.

You could def argue we got the best draw, but makes sense from rival perspective. We'll get called out a bit for that, but we have gone over a decade of being one of two schools who have had to play Bama and UGA every year (Auburn was, and still enjoys that pleasure). Biggest miss, to me is LSU w/ no Florida or Bama...finally Miz gets out of their "cake" schedule, which seems has been the case for the last few cycles. MST feels like a "throw in" for Bama. Spread pretty well though, IMO.

Arkansas: Missouri, Texas, LSU

Auburn: Alabama, Georgia, Vanderbilt

Probably the end of the FL-TN rivalry, which is good for UF now that we’ve got an actual retard running the program, while TN is top tier solid.

Hopefully we see each other enough down the road to keep the rivalry going.
To be fair, we have each had 3 tards over the past 15 years or so, but 2 of yours have had some level of success.

glanced at the reddit thread on the topic. Overall very positive. most fans seems happy traditional rivalries are maintained.

That's fair. I was honestly looking at ATM more in the past than the current.
Which is why the whole "reevaluate every 4 years." We would have looked the pushover on a schedule chosen in 2021, and we have been far more competitive than the prior 4 years would have been predicted.
Coaching changes and the transfer portal/NIL are going to make scheduling for parity impossible. The numbers will average out just fine over time.

Pick teams now; stick with them. Let new rivalries and traditions build.

Don't know what you guys think, but it looks like we got the easiest draw. Thoughts?
I think it looks like we have 2 easy games out of 9. We’ll see how it looks w/ the other 6 . I’m guessing we get @ Ole Miss, LSU, Mizzou, @ Texas, @ USC jr and Auburn .

Home:
Bama
UK
LSU
Mizzou
Auburn

Away:
Ole Miss
Texas
USC jr
Vandy

I would have had Vandy vs UK stay. Regional teams that are about equal on caliber.

Arkansas vs. Ole Miss was one that went away but I can kind of see it with who Arkansas has kept.

Overall, they got more right than wrong.

Depends on what we think of Florida. If they're dog vomit, as they appear to be most of last year and the first part of this, then UGa and USCe also have relatively light draws. Georgia might have the easiest of all, under those conditions -- three mid- and lower-tier teams, no top competitor like a Bama, Texas, or LSU.

If Florida bounces back some time in the next year or two, and at least becomes a mid-tier competitor (like say Auburn or A&M), then yah, I agree with you, ours looks like the easiest draw.

Go Vols!
