"The Film Guy" - Reaction to the Game

I appreciate everyone's input on this. It sounds like we did everything we could with the Jimmy and Joe's we had. We just haven't closed the talent gap enough to put us over the top. We gave ourselves a chance to win, so I'm definitely pleased with how the Vols are coming together.

I wish everyone would watch his shows on Tennessee. They’d learn alot more about the game, why certain plays work & why certain plays fail.

He clearly is a buttsniffer. He let it slip with “we” & “yall” several times.

Has he ever watched a Banks team play zone? My goodness, no down and distance on 3rd down is safe! It's 3rd down and 30yds, we play zone, 33yrd completion. It's 3rd down and 5, slant route completed for 7. He doesn't do zone well IMO.
Just like 99 percent of all football teams.
The answer is and always will be pressure.

He had a tough game but the TD pass in the 4th Qtr, there’s no defense for that. Gotta give Ga Qb credit for a great throw.

We rarely see the plays where he covers his guy. His PFF rate wasn’t great but it’s wasn’t horrible either. He’s not the reason they lost.

Exactly. As a true freshman Redmond had some tough times going up against elite competition. That being said, he did enough to help us be in a position to win. He did everything right on the 4th down play, that was just a perfect pass and pretty much indefensible. Maybe he could've jumped up to try to swat at it it but he likely would've caught a PI for that the way the refs were calling it at that point. That's called Tennessee bad luck and it's why BVS exists. Stockton will not make another throw like that the rest of his college career.

idk how we could have played it any differently. We don't have the dudes up front to play a bunch of zone coverage either and we don't have the dudes on the edge to be playing a bunch of man. Pick your poison.
Definitely doesn’t help when you throw in a very mobile QB too

Ty Redmond got us killed yesterday. I mean, hes a freshman so its not entirely his fault because Banks should have known man-to-man was not going to work when you have those matchups.
We would've just complained about guys being left open all the time and soft coverage.

Nope. We tried to adjust out of the half. We said, oh they are having success in the passing game lets try some zone looks...and they ran it down our throats on a 75 yard 8 minute death march.
Yep. That's the odd thing to me. Heupel had a front row seat so he knew no matter what we tried, UGA was going to move the ball. Our only hope was to keep piling on points. Making a 2 score game with the clock on our side was the best bet. Instead he turtles up and just like the prevent defense, he lives to regret making that decision. I know last season we relied on D, but this is a new year. That defense is mostly gone. Injuries complicate the situation....again. Our LBs are a disappointment...again. Heupel needs to lean on the strength of the team which is....gasp...the offense this year. Just be the offense we've seen and depend on that. Anything you get from the defense this year is a bonus, but it's fools gold to hang your hat on that bunch this year.

I hope he learns from it and goes for the throat in the future.

I agree, it needed to be a 2 score game, it's kind of like '22 the offense was going to have to win it. I believe it was in the first half that he punted on 4th and short. I kind of wanted him to be aggressive and to go for it as the offense was playing good but I also didn't have a problem with punting it at that time. The problem I did have was in the 4th after the Stockton turnover fumble and we were down close to the 30 and played only for a FG by running it up the middle 3 straight times, I felt like we should've taken a shot or two at the endzone as I felt like we needed two scores to hold GA off and Brazzel and Joey were hitting home runs. FG put us up 8 and I knew GA was going to tie it up, also felt like Coach should've called a timeout before the GA 2pt conversion to make sure everyone was on the same page. Sometimes you have to play to win instead of playing not to lose. Oh well maybe we'll get them in two

Pretty sure that 3rd play was an RPO with Joey also having option to keep and run the ball himself. CJH was shown after that play and he was very upset. I believe he was upset at Joey for not keeping the ball himself. Looked like he could have ran for the 1st down.

Tim Banks is always going to try to stop the run first, because thats one of the only ways opposing offenses can deny us additional scoring drives. So yeah if we can't stop the run with 4 down linemen and 2 linebackers (and I don't think we can)...load up the box, play man to man on the edge and hope for the best.

If we had played a bunch of drop 8 coverages, Georgia would have run for 250+ on us.
This. Banks does what he does to help the team. Not his resume.

Redmond got hunted. Poor kid.

Yeah I dont get how the kicker is a freaking hero like Lincoln vs Bama in 22 when they actually do the 1 job they get a scholarship AND paid more yearly than most of us do....and kick the ball correctly...but when they miss it like this weekend and fail everyone's like " That POOR kicker. Its not HIS fault." My ass its not his fault. If he did his job we are undefeated and the whole world is talking about how GREAT we are as a top 10 undefeated team. I dont feel sorry for the kicker. I feel sorry for Redmond. He got abused for 3 hours with no Safety help over the top by NFL WRs as an 18yo freshman.

Heres film breakdown and TFG showing how our offense just destroyed UGA in a game we should have won...and had 3 chances to make a play in the last 3 minutes to win. 4th and 7...2pt try...and missed FG. We have a really good team and should be favored to win every game but Bama moving forward.

He also breaks down Tennessee’s defense vs UGA’s offense

One thing that stood out to me is there were a few times in short yardage situations when Georgia was out there with 2 tight ends, a full back, and 1 wide receiver and we come out in our base nickel packag with 2 linebackers and 4 down lineman.

That is 100% on coaching. I know i formation is a rarity in today’s game especially in the middle of the field, but its pretty inexcusable to me that we don’t see their subs and have our heavy package ready to go in situations like that.

This is the one here. Great breakdown. Georgia has some excellent new defensive linemen that made great individual plays on Saturday. #90 & #94 are dogs. But overall, we blocked their asses enought to win. Our offense is just nasty. We did that to UGA. They aren't give up 38 in the regular season again. We may actually have something here.

Georgia's long run in overtime was with 3 tight ends. We came out in a 4-3 with Telander as the middle backer. He went unblocked and never came close to the runner. Looked like he was running in mud.

It looked like we had two players hit the same gap on that play. It wasn't the only time we had that problem.

Redman will be a good player, UGA tried Colton Hood once, and they are lucky the refs called a SOFT DPI because dude made an incredible INT. They did not throw at him in Man coverage again.

yeah, linebacker play to me has been the biggest disappointment. I don't understand what happened in that position room. They all look uncertain and like they are thinking too much instead of just going out there and playing hard.
