8-4? 2012?

I get it. The defensive ranking sucks.

And while the defense certainly has a few gaps... Getting 4 starters back on the DL and secondary will help tremendously.

All I think about is how much better I think this team is than I thought, and they have a shot at getting better by getting healthy.

I still think 9-3 is the floor. 10-2 totally doable.

Playoff appearance is attainable...
We have made it through 3 games.

Many of these teams have only played “Sister Mary of the Poor”s. Offensive and defensive rankings could not be any more fake than they are currently. It will take a couple more weeks before they start to actually represent reality.

AP on 104.5 (paraphrase): Sanders is chomping at the bit to play, but strength isn’t there yet. Agent isn’t suggesting to sit out. Will rotate in but is undoubtedly still a starter once strength is back.

On McCoy, earliest he will be back is Arky.
What about our D tackles, I want to hear about Hobbs and Moi. GBO

Great news. Would much prefer this scenario to the 'lets shark Virginia Polytechnical Institute' mentality.

With Brazzell's emergence, I think it's fair to say no team is better at identifying the right fit through the portal.

Last two years:

The hits:
- Brazzell
- Aguilar
- Kitselman
- Heard
- Moi
- McCoy
- McMurray
- Hood
- Pendleton
- Moe
- Star

Staes may be the only true miss in that time frame. The hand wringing was prevalent over the offseason and for what?

Bottom line -- this staff is really good in the portal.

Immediately eligible. If the smoke is true about McCoy, I’d sit down and have a hard talk with him right now and ask him is he gonna play or not. If not, I’d see if the kid is interested in coming to suit up for us. We need some depth with our two starters out.
Go get him anyway. Need as a starter or depth. No guarantee on McCoy and how well he will play anyway.

lol

please let teams play a "centerfield safety" and give us the entire middle of the field

please!! let it happen!
I think you misunderstand. UGA was playing a centerfield safety on the deep shot INT it got. Most cover 3 defenses have a safety as deep as the deepest WR with other coverage in front of them. The CBs pattern match. The ball flight time lets one safety help to the numbers on either side: he doesn’t have to commit to a side.

Playing cover 3 would give defenses more options in the middle, not fewer. UGA’s base scheme against UT the past few years has been cover 2 man or a form of quarters, which have a minimum of 4 pass-first defenders at the snap (normally more). Cover 3 just requires 3. The width of the old routes lessened the need for deep safety help, so safeties could play shallower to defend the alleys. Cover 3 also lets teams disguise their pressure, as they can rotate more freely from an open to closed look right at the snap.

Teams will have to adjust to this new look offense. I think you’ll see more single safety looks, maybe bringing a safety up for crossers or the TE.

There’s no perfect offense or defense. It’s just tradeoffs and adjustments everywhere, and it’s always execution—I think the CB on the first long TD was expecting safety help deep and inside. Heupel and JA got UGA twice deep when UGA wasn’t in the best defense to counter it. Gotta tip your hat.

No question. I wish they would take about 50% more than they do, because they find people that can play.

What is the Portal? Sorry, I've not heard this term used. Do you mean the porthole?

I think so far this year two things are obvious
1-Nico not CJH was the problem with the 2024 offense
2-CJH and his offensive staff are showing the SEC and the country “Not so fast” on figuring out this “gimmick“ offense😎
If a coach does not adapt to his personnel and the landscape he will lose. Heup is an innovator for sure and he will do whatever it takes. He worked around Nico and Joe and he is going to win with whatever ingredients he has. I think with this team he has good ingredients and will take care of business.

People just want to feel like they know more than they really do. I will literally never question this coaching staff's decision making in the portal ever again. They hit on pretty much every one

We have adapted our offense which is a beautiful thing to see.

I've been thinking that in every game but thought I had to be crazy. He's got guys in the backfield almost every time he's handed the ball. Doesn't make any sense. Surely they're not trying to run different stuff when Lewis is out there. I think he's a lot better than what he's been able to show.
He looks hesitant to me while the other two hit the hole much quicker.
