I hate it for Max. I hate it for myself after seeing him hit the exact same kick about 90 seconds later.

My Thoughts on the Game the Morning After (for whoever cares to read them):
  • Joey is a dude. I think we all felt like we upgraded after the UCLA trade, but yesterday confirmed it. That third TD pass he threw—anticipating Brazzell coming open on the post - was a thing of beauty.
  • Our WRs are also dudes. I think we’ll see games the rest of the year where all three put up huge numbers. Brazzell looks like a completely different player.
  • The OL looks much improved, and they still may not be playing their best five with Sanders out.
  • I wish we had gone for a TD after the strip sack, but I understand Heupel’s reasoning. You’re already in position to kick a FG and go up 8—why take the risk? Hindsight is always 20/20. I still think he called RPOs on 3rd/4th down, and we just didn’t read it right.
  • Probably an unpopular opinion, but I think our defense will end up being just fine. Get McCoy back for the stretch run and the D-Line healthy, and we’ll look a lot different. Redmond will learn and grow from yesterday.
  • If you had told me before the game that we’d have a chance to kick a 40-ish yard FG in regulation to win it, I’d have taken that all day. Gilbert has been pretty solid in his career here—he just missed it. Hopefully, he gets another shot at redemption down the road.

Overall, this feels like a top-15, playoff-caliber team. I’m excited to see how we progress and improve throughout the season. And remember—our QB has only been here for about three months.

If we had Sanders with a couple games experience, i don't think they shut us out in the 2nd qtr.

We are a dam good football team and we probably will not be this weak in any big game the rest of the year.

We likely just watched the very worst version of this team. That is nutty to think about.

Some really embarrassing posts in here. Some people need to get some perspective.

I have literally never, at any point, been more confident that we are on the right track than I am right now after that loss. Foh with this woe is me stuff. We are going to get healthy and beat wholesale ass this year.

I think the WR’s are better than we thought before the season. I think the RB’s while quite good aren’t quite as good as we thought. Star needs the most carries.

People need to accept that who is starting corner have a good probability of being our starting corners all year. McCoy may not come back.

Did I miss anything yesterday? Lol I’m sure some have called for Hype or some other silly complaint.


Anyways, extremely impressed by this team. I did not think for one minute we would be in a position to beat them especially with all the new faces.

I said yesterday that Joey might be the best QB under Hype and I stand by that even more so this morning.

It sucks to lose and trust me, a few years ago I’d be pissed as **** this morning, but I’m just happy that we were in that spot in the first place with so much lost this past off season.

Still doesn’t change my opinion that OU is the only other team that worries me. Every other team is beatable. Ive actually never been more confident that we finish 10-2 / 11-1.

Bama and Florida are awful….and the rest of the schedule? lol

Nice post. I agree with everything here.

To me the difference in the game feels like Kirby going for fourth down often.

In no way is he Kirby outsmarting Heupel. Just a gamble that paid off. It does feel Mike Bobo has Tim Banks’ number, Banks seems to have no answer for Georgia. I don’t know enough football to understand why.

The Stockton throw on 4th down was a thing of beauty. Redmond had great coverage, just perfect ball placement, hats off there.

I think we look better than we all thought we were going to look. Bama and Florida will always be hard for us, but some gimmes look like they’ll be tougher than they were a few months ago. Gonna be a fun season.
