Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Star Thomas averaged 6.7 yards per carry on 9 rushes.

Bishop 3.6 on 15 carries

Absolutely no reason Bishop should have had 6 more carries than Thomas.
This is the only issue I have with the offensive playcalling yesterday. Not sure what the idea was there. Star is clearly the superior option, with Bishop being 3rd.

We were without 2 starting CBs and 2 starting DTs. Those are pretty important in big time SEC play.

And we still almost won.

The Defense is only going to get better.
The Offense is only going to get better.
No we weren’t. Eason is a starter and he isn’t hurt. Bailey is a starter at SDE and slid in. Which he is big enough to play inside. Corners we were out but Hood is a stud. Truth is safety and linebacker play are what killed us yet again

We have a lot of talent at LB and I feel like we will improve there over the coarse of the season. Safety, I’m not so sure…

Ben Bolton playing on Georgias final regulation drive was inexcusable. Linebackers were atrocious. Telander is not athletic enough, and Carter missed way too many tackles.

Far too many times we couldn’t get set or were misaligned. Linebackers get an F

There’s injuries. But I’m also not expecting the defense to be terrible all year. Tim Banks usually does well against teams not named UGA as of late, but his performances against UGA the last two years were just inexcusable.
And because of that he is buns and we should fire him? LOL

Just think, actually think, for a second. If we had just one of McCoy or Gibson healthy, UGA wouldn’t have been able to pick on our freshman CB. Also, with how fast our offensive possessions were, the defense is and will be getting gassed. That’s the nature of the beast when hurry up is working.

There are way more statistics backing Banks as being one of the best defensive coordinators in the nation then what you could ever pull for him being a weak link.

If he's able to play and chooses not to, we need to recoup our NIL money. You don't pay a healthy guy to sit the bench by choice.
This isn’t Heups style or Tennessee. We want to be seen as a brotherhood and always players first. If he decides to sit, they will still pay him and let him go to the draft. We would want the publicity of a first round draft corner even if it means he left us high and dry on the field this year.

I’m a little surprised at the negative takes. It hurts bad for sure. But can the doubters not see what’s building? We’ll probably lose a couple more games this year. But we might still make the playoffs, and the future looks really bright. I could see a national championship within 5 years.

We look so much better offensively than last year, and that reaffirms my faith in Heupel. A few correct calls or a kick go our way, and we’re celebrating right now.
I’m surprised that you’re surprised about negative takes. Death, taxes, and the same posters with negative takes. It happens every year after losses. We can all name them. They get louder when something bad happens. It’s what our society has become.
