We have been recruiting just fine in defense for years now. Coming in all we heard about was our depth on the d line.
This is all on the offense going into a shell once they got the 21-7 lead.

Why are some of you all so surprised? When you’re playing without your starting defensive tackles, you’re in trouble. Not only are you stuck playing with lesser talent on the field, but it completely kills your depth. The dline is already totally gassed.

What stands out to me is for us to move the ball we have to be cute and creative. They just decide they wanna smash us and do it. We are sorely lacking in size and talent in key departments.

I am hoping the defense will come around later on this year but its clear that side of the ball isn’t quite ready for big boy ball.

Hopefully this experience will help our young guys get better.

Defense starting to get exposed

And gassed. But it’s (unfortunately) seeming more and more like it’s not designed to be out there all game this year.

They’re designed for pressuring and forcing mistakes/turnovers when the offense is already up big.

Instead now they’re out there for like 9-12 play drives lasting 6-8 minutes each, and with the offensive getting stalled the way it is, the only breaks they’re getting are lasting like 3-5 plays (ie, between like 40 second and 1:30).
