Halloween Thread

We had about 20 trick or treaters this year, but prolly could have had more. We shut it down a little after dark.

Most goblins don’t even come out til it’s good and dark.

Treats handed out were fun size Snickers, Butterfingers, and Heath minis.

Got to hand out candy for the first time in about 24 years. No one comes to our house...too far out and too sparsely populated an area. Our tenant lives in a very active neighborhood for Halloween. Didn't know that until last year. Since he takes his kids on their activities, he let us pass out candy. Four bags gone in 90 minutes. Need to double it next year.

Why the heck do parents allow their teen daughters to dress like a slut on Halloween? Good grief. One was strolling up the street and stumbled, one of her bewbs ejected from the "costume" as she tried not to fall down. She didn't even seen fazed by it.

It really is! I dread it every year, and it winds up being so much fun.

Any kid over six or so has been affected to some degree by The Plague a couple of years ago, and around here, now Helene (out of school for four weeks, and many still without power, water, and Internet)

It has been great to see so many kids out, many with intricate homemade costumes that obviously took a ton of time, thought and energy, not knowing if there would even be a Halloween this year.

The rain was a bummer. I wasn't able to put out a lot of my props, especially the ones that are motorized, but still had a ton of lights and creepy stuff for the kids. My son brought 2 of his 10x10 beach tents and we set them up on the driveway. We had the fire pit where we roast hot dogs and marshmallows under one and 1 gave us cover to greet the trick or treaters and give out the candy. We had 210 spooksters last night, way more than I expected given the weather.

3 different kids cracked us up last night. One kid about 10 years old was dressed in 1 of those inflatable things where his entire body is inside the costume. We told him he had a cool costume and he said "thanks, I'm sweating by balls off". We all cracked up.

We kept this prop under the tent with us as we gave out the candy

One kid asked who he was. I said this is my brother Fred, he had an accident. He said what happened. I said he was run over by a train. He paused and then said - does he have a girlfriend?

Another kid asked who he was and I told him the same story, that he was my brother Fred (I don't really have a brother Fred) My daughter asked the kid if he could see the resemblance to me. He paused and said yes you do look a lot alike. He wasn't old enough to be a smart ass, he was just telling the truth. Got a good laugh out of that too.

Some Spirit Halloweens are open. I saw a guy on youtube do a video from the one in Maryville. Their website says the one in Hermitage is open. I'll be checking that out this weekend.

I'm making a new zombie for my yard this year. Baseball theme. It will have this mask from HorrorDome



I ordered a Negan "Lucille" bat off Amazon. From The Walking Dead for those who didn't watch.



I'm having this jersey made on Amazon. I'll splatter blood on it and dirty it up. Then pick up some old baseball pants at Goodwill.

Made a 5 x 5 spider out of an aluminum foil pan, pool noodles, expanding foam, black spray paint and a 1 dollar skull from Dollar Tree. Total spent - 20 bucks. I'll put a bright red flashing light inside the skull at night.
