Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

This isn't Saban saying this was his only reason for leaving, but I guarantee you it was a huge part of it. He knew he could no longer build the same caliber of team when his rivals could suddenly legally out-bid him.

“I thought we could have a hell of a team next year, and then maybe 70 or 80 percent of the players you talk to, all they want to know is two things: What assurances do I have that I’m going to play because they’re thinking about transferring, and how much are you going to pay me?” -Nick Saban
Did he say that when he tampered with and bought Gibbs from GT? You have to follow his deeds. Count the 5 dozen Dodge Chargers in his practice field parking lot, for example.

He lies.

I don't know what your argument is. Do you see any Jamhyr Gibbs on Bama's roster right now? The landscape has continued to change.

How does anyone listen to those callers? It reminds me of the news team interviewing someone after a natural disaster> They somehow find the guy with 1 tooth and a 2nd grade education and ask him what he saw.

….back to our regularly scheduled programming, Nick Saban is the Devil.
Saban never won anything at Bama without extensive cheating on an epic scale. It’s a fact. And we’re not even mentioning the Birmingham officiating office’s famous Bama calls and no-calls that prevented a level playing field. Saban's cheating was so pervasive and long term that it is literally impossible for anyone to know that he could win at Bama in any other way. It never happened. There's no evidence.

Auburn, LSU, Florida, Georgia and Texas A&M were all seemingly able to skate often as well...I can't recall any of them getting nailed like Ole Miss or us (under Pearl & Pruitt) for ish.

I mean Will Wade & LSU got what exactly for his FBI recorded "strong ass offer"?

It never made any sense. I remember making a comment about OM and the reply was "everyone can speed on the interstate but Ole Miss was doing 40 over". Just never sat well with me that Ohio State and Alabama have the #1 and #2 class every year and never got in trouble for anything. I was happy it happened to Will Wade also but I'm guessing Zion (or whoever the recruit was) just decided to play at Duke for free instead.

That is true but I think another factor was that Nick just plain didn't have juice any more. I mean the most remarkable thing about him was his ability to not become complacent. He was relentless and meticulous, that is what really made him great.

Having said that back to our regularly scheduled programming, Nick Saban is the Devil.

I don't believe he did. I thought he looked tired on the sideline against us in 2021. I think he was waning and with new rules and player attitudes incoming quickly he gave it up. Still think there's a chance he gets back into coaching but he would need a GM. Maybe not though, I know he has some grandchildren now and a cushy ESPN gig.

Sean Sparks (yes I know grain of salt) is saying Gibson has a serious peck injury. Unsure if we see him again this year unless we make a playoff run. I usually don’t post his stuff because it’s usually already been reported on but this is the first I’m seeing on Gibson.
Yeah Sparks is clueless lol

And what do you have to do with devils?
The Bama cheating didn't start with Little Nicky, he just perfected it to an epic level. The Bear cheated more than a card shark.

Saban was a very earlier adopter and power user of the portal. He was known for tampering and also buying NFL talent that way. For example, instant-impact players like Jahmyr Gibbs, Jameson Williams, and Tyler Steen.

It seems you take your bearing from Saban’s (lying) speeches rather than from his deeds.

Saban left because of NIL — other teams could pay and he could no longer sic the NCAA on them. Saban had been buying players his entire Bama tenure.

Saban’s loud complaints and extensive excuse making and blame-game about the portal happened when other teams also used the portal. (Typical Saban BS.) He didn’t think they should be allowed.

Remember, Saban had lied to a huge number of recruits that he would be there during their years. They were gullible enough (like most fans) not to notice Saban’s long uninterrupted history of lies. Largely because the media never investigated the most corrupt team in history. And because the media (as corrupt) was constantly in coverup mode for dinky Nicky.

So, when Saban broke his word to the players he had bought in recent years in a surprise announcement, the players in turn bailed on Bama.

It was THEN that Saban started his hypocritical made-for-TV rants about the portal. Saban has since devoted huge efforts into getting the power of the NCAA that always cheated for him reinstated. Prolly under a new name. Fans, he assumes, will be duped. Saban didn’t rant when he scooped up Gibbs, for example.
I don’t like bama either but perhaps you should stay off the sauce for awhile.

He’s got a house down here at Jupiter Hills and an early tee time during the winter. Frankly sounds more fun than recruiting.
