Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Right now 1st quarter total points line is 10. Their d line is wrecked and ours is stacked. We might cover 10 solo.
we score, then a defensive takeaway, then another score

the way we used to put em down early

I like 10

I hope to not suffer under full seasons in the future where the QB just doesn't get it. Perhaps we have enough depth to pull the starter in those situations?
I don't know if anybody will ever have enough quality experienced depth at QB to just give up on the massive investment made in highly rated HS QBs on a whim...most coaches will feel like the dude is always about to turn the corner and will give that guy every chance to turn it around.

Nico just wasn't going to ever be the kind of guy that just takes off like Johnny Manziel or Tua...and that is understandable and ok, hell even Joe Burrow didn't...even HENDON HOOKER didn't...I think he was going to get better and better, but now we will never know thanks to chaos kicking our ass.

Joe is what he us, but Nico really had a shot to be something special I think.

But he's gone...and now we have to hope Joey can light it up...it wouldn't surprise me if he absolutely blows up in this offense, but it wouldn't surprise me he struggles...we will see.

I think Merk is just not THAT guy either, I think the best he can be is really solid, but GMac I think could be really special down the road....and with Faizon coming in it looks good going forward.

I would like for Heup to always scour the lower ranks and cast-offs every off-season for a talented experienced guy like Joey, guys that have teased the ability to do great things...you never know when that guy is going to blow up like Hendon.

Bama can/will fall off once that program stops producing top results. DuBose, Franchione, Shula were all quickly average there. Storied program, but you have to have a great HC for them to be at a high level consistently.

Georgia, LSU, Florida, Texas just in talent rich states...not sure if they'll ever truly lose recruiting edge because of that.

If TN can get inside the top 6 of the SEC I think we'll be just as good as anyone.
True. Recruiting top rated talent is different than having that top rated talent actually being top talent and panning out. I think that a coach's ability to evaluate talent and pick the right pieces for their program and utilize that talent is way overlooked by most.
Butch Jones had some highly rated classes that he didn't use correctly and didn't fit the system or the SEC.

The big thing at Georgia were the huge rigged calls UGA needed to even stay close enough to have a chance to win in the second half. Heinous.

Can’t find the DPI they wrongly called on McCoy.

"ABSOLUTELY NOTHING CORRUPT GOING ON HERE!!!...It is impossible for it to be SEC corruption...Why? Why would they do it to us?"

VN naysayers.

They also were up over 30 on Oregon in the first half. Was Oregon talented? And they beat them at home. We had to play them at night at home.

They were head and shoulders better than everyone last year. And UGA is a mental block right now. Bama had a top five roster and we beat them. Had we played anyone other than OSU, we would have been in any game.

UGA is more than a mental block. We’re getting outschemed and outplayed by superior talent. That’s a lot to overcome without the equivalent talent.

I agree that OSU was a buzz saw but that’s not by accident. Loaded with talent makes that more likely to happen.

Some bruh, who should supposedly know better, just said we weren’t good enough to beat Georgia last year. I thought he and some similar stray goobers needed reminding of some facts.

VFLs in the league…

Seen where McCalin Castles, Jakob Johnson, Marquez Callaway, Shy Tuttle and Omari Thomas got cut.

Any others?

Or any Vols make their teams?
