Jags dodged a bullet by not drawing Tua and the Dolphins...Yeah I think he and Brian Thomas are going to have a great connection this year. I mean they might only need to win 9 games to win the division so I don’t think it’s a tall order. And with the Texans winning the division last year they will have to play the other division winners. Jags schedule is extremely front loaded so I could see them starting out poorly heading into the Bye Week but going on a run to end the season. They play Burrow, Mahomes, and Stafford first half but their last 10 games are all winnable. Texans schedule is rough kind of throughout. I could see them being 1-4 heading into their Bye Week.
Two huge advantages the Texans had in ‘23 were 1) a new staff and a rookie qb with high side, 2) the bottom feeder schedule. There is always a surprise team that wins a division and I think it is Jacksonville this year. If you look at Baker Mayfield’s stats with/without Liam Cohen they are pretty drastic. I think he will help Trevor Lawrence this season and win an extremely weak AFC South. As far as the NFC is concerned, I’m thinking the Eagles will take a slight step back after winning the Super Bowl and we see Jayden Daniels take a step forward in his development. Seems like it will always be between Allen, Jackson, Burrow, and Mahomes but wouldn’t be shocked to see Daniels holding the MVP trophy after the season since he is the shiny new toy in the league.

Defense should be good but I just don’t know if I trust Mixon to stay healthy whenever he hasn’t even been cleared yet. And then you have Chubb behind him who will never be himself again. So if Mixon isn’t healthy then you have to depend on Pierce. I like Nico Collins but opposite him is a very inconsistent Kirk and rookie WR. It’s a recipe for disaster on the offense if one guy goes down. Two huge advantages the Texans had in ‘23 were 1) a new staff and a rookie qb with high side, 2) the bottom feeder schedule.
In ‘24, the NFL had film on the newbs, CJ battled the sophomore slump, and they played a Division winner’s schedule. They’ve replaced their OC, Slowik, as he really seemed to take a turn from an up and coming “next HC” type and got really conservative.
Hopefully, the churn moves the Texans beyond the Divisional round.
Pass rushers are a dime a dozen in today’s game and more teams are willing to rotate to keep them fresh anyways. I would have traded him on draft night to a very desperate team and gotten more than what you could get right now. Gotta love Jerry and his ways.Actually the more I think about it, I have no problem with Cowboys trading Micah Cowboys could get a decent DT and at least 3 picks in return for Micah. A first,4th and 3rd plus the DT which we need. The kid from BC is going to be a strong pass rusher off the edge

Fahr Snitker…AFC South doesn’t even deserve a playoff spot it is so bad imo. The division winner is probably going to have 4 easy wins vs the Titans/Colts who are two of the worst teams in the conference right now. And then if you luck out against the runner up and sweep them too then you just get to coast into the playoffs and host the first round. Put any of these 4 teams in any other division in the NFL and none of them would win it.

I think WSH may do well in the playoffs this year, but I don't see 12 wins again. I'm thinking more in the 10-7 range. WSH was 8-2 in one score games last year and won a few on the last play. Doubt they get that lucky again.I too think the Redskins make some noise this year.
If Dell were healthy it would be a very good duo with he and Collins but until that happens teams are just going to blanket Collin’s every game because they aren’t going to trust Kirk and a rookie to beat them. And we all know rookies can get confused very easily with these sophisticated defensive schemes. You sound like the “Realists” at my go to Texans site:

They post a daily thread, threads for the most NFL games or windows of games, and keep an ear to the ground of life in general, similar to the Dugout.
You create your own luck. Daniels went on the road and won 2 playoff games as a rookie, taking down the best team in the NFC in the process. Some QBs just have that “it factor” and he is one of them.I think WSH may do well in the playoffs this year, but I don't see 12 wins again. I'm thinking more in the 10-7 range.
