VN's very own political meme thread...

I rural Appalachia, a lot of those folks supported Trump in 2020 & and in 2024. I'm sure y'all will bring this down to the mat.

I call on WV, VA, and NE TN - Appalachia - was in Grundy the day Coronado laid off hundreds of miners who, precedent to the election proudly flew Trump flags.

In speaking with folks in that coal town. There def seems to be frustration thus far in this administration.

Look, i'm not going to say that Kamala was the answer. We all know how that wouldve played out.
Coal from the Cumberland Plateau has been dying a slow death for a long time. Long before Trump, heck all the way back to the 1980s. The coal is too high in sulfur to comply with stricter environmental controls (thanks to Acid Rain regulations) and the highest quality and easiest to extract seams have already been depleted.
I know because my family were coal miners. I grew up falling asleep listening to the sounds of coal truck Jake Breaks coming down the mountain and L&N trains loaded with car after car of coal heading down the valley. Now the trucks no longer run and the Sequatchie Valley RR (successor to the relevant L&N lines) had their tracks pulled up decades ago. Long loooong before Trump

Building a civilization is different than taking welfare from one.
So if they quit taking welfare from us and were just your normal civilization building invaders it'd be cool?

Just playing devil's advocate. I'm not a lefty loon.
