The thing I think a lot of Vols fans fail to remember is that Tennessee is no longer in the state it was in from 2008-2020 where an elite QB was our only hope.
From Bray to Dobbs to Hooker even, it felt like the only chance we had was to just outscore opponents with big arm talent. Since basically the 2008 housing crisis our defense was bad to atrocious, and our running game was flat out abysmal at times so if we were going to win, we had to score 40.
Nowadays we have a top 10 defensive machine that just keeps popping out elite football players, and a running game that has achieved 2500 yards 4 seasons in a row (First time in Tennessee history). We don't have to be saved by a quarterback anymore. Heupel has done a hell of a job building this roster and Has also helped the last two transfer QBs get jobs in the NFL. Y'all can wring your hands about uncertainty at the QB position all you want, but my money is on coach figuring it out.
20 extra milly a year for 10 years for NIL for all UT athletics isn’t a bad start. As far switching from NIKE to Adidas. From a fan stand point , Adidas has more clothes that fit me being a bigger guy at the store than what NIKE did . Was hard to find UT Gear that fit good shopping NIKE. That’s my opinion tho. Who cares .
Be interesting to know if the defensive coaches have been told by CJH to be very vanilla and maybe don’t go full speed.
Our offense could certainly use some confidence.
