That’s the other thing. This is not a senior laden team. If Faison is the dude or Merk is markedly improved from day 1, skys the limit for 2026

We should have know when he was half assing at elite 11 and then showed up to multiple camps in pajamas but I wanted to believe.

It also feels like Heupel and Halzle really took to heart the offensive struggles the last two years and working towards adding wrinkles to the system. They don’t need to reinvent the wheel but just some more counters they can throw in SEC play will mask some of the QB deficiencies.

They had to bring Aguilar in, I’m good with it. At the very least it’s a very capable backup. Also probably not fair people judging the first week of camp when he wasn’t here in the Spring. Wouldn’t be surprised if he picks it up as we get further along.

If he wins the job great. If he doesn’t, I don’t think it’s a bad thing to see if Merk or GMac can be a guy. If not then it’s Faison and he seems way more ready than Nico is from day 1.

I think Faizon will probably be a stud, BUT he’s gonna have a battle with GMac imo. I don’t really think Merk is a factor

I like your GMac enthusiasm. Why did he seam to lose steam his senior year? Team related? He seemed to be a top 5 QB and then lost some profile. Little film I’ve watched shows he got the arm

I think he had a new coordinator every year in high school and his OL was trash. He rarely got a clean pocket.

He’s gotta keep putting on the weight but he’s pretty mobile and can make all the throws.

Need some WRs to pop, folks. Again, not a ton to replace there... Thornton legitimately broke open some games. And thank goodness he did. But 40% of his yards from 4 catches.

Legitimately don't think anyone else in that room is worth missin', especially with TEs intact.

This is a weak-ass take but I'm not sure I feel comfortable writing off anybody with a strong arm in Heup's system. That mental and tempo click and suddenly we've got the Tyler Bray karaoke we deserve.

Edit: actually it looks like it has nothing to do with the organization. Waldrep was called up as the 27th man. So by rule he has to return to AAA. But the standard 10 day recall waiting period doesn't apply.
