Recruiting Forum Football Talk IX

Just got back in from taking my mom to her doctor's appointment. Swain and Josh did say this. I was listening to the radio when they did. Apparently, she's blaming the coaches. She didn't specify whether it was a particular coach or the whole coaching staff, but they did say her quote was, "Finally, someone said it."

We may never know the full story, but the way this is playing out, the odds he's still a Vol by the time the season starts keep shrinking. If his position group wasn't so damn thin, I'd be all for dumping his ass, but because it is so thin.... Unless one of the freshmen has the ability to immediately contribute, losing Boo would seriously hurt this team THIS season. We'd be okay going forward is my guess, but we do need to recruit the position more aggressively.
Kids and players talk. If Nico and Boo think something is going on with coaches (Offense) then perhaps there is something there.

Is it losing 4-5 WR and not getting elite talent at skill positions?

Still think every team deals with pre madonnas. Boo will either play here or he'll play and make some team better elsewhere.

Would be great if its here.

Respect your opinion but I think quality depth at CB is probably the best on the team. Between McCoy, Gibson, Hood, and McMurray you have 4 legit, experienced CBs. Then sprinkle in all the young guys. Dump him.
You named four guys for three positions. And one is still injured. How is that depth? Not trying to be mean or snarky but that is not depth my friend. It’s one injury away from praying a freshmen is ready or a walk on steps up.

This has nothing to do with our coaches. It's two situations where players with immature and emotionally unstable parents are guiding their kids in terrible directions.

Nico went from a playoff team and making 2 million a year to one of the worst teams in the Big 10 and making half of what he was here. Boo is sadly headed down the exact same path and maybe even worse.

Majority of the time these are the guys who end up being busts in the NFL. Teams don’t want to deal with them and the drama that comes with them. And when you make a name like that for yourself in college you can really really hurt yourself when Draft Day comes
Not Political damnit.

Did everyone hear that Trump wants Washington and Cleveland to go back to the Redskins and Indians as their nicknames? Kinda crazy after lots of people whined and complained to get it changed originally...
I say move on demnit. So tired of these ridiculous culture wars that have no impact on my life. Not political.

Let's not undersell the staff. Matthews was a 5* WR. Elite talent. We still have a chance to flip Keys. Elite talent. We're neck-in-neck for Hiter. Elite talent. Sanders at OT, elite talent.

Do I have questions about this staff? Sure. But let's see how this recruiting cycle and this season plays out. We need to see the staff get more aggressive on the recruiting trail, IMO, and close on these upper echelon guys. And they could still do that.

I've yet to hear Nico say something about the coaches. It's all come from his dad. And in the case of Boo, it's easier to blame the coaches than it is to man up and take responsibility for his own actions. Plenty of players siding with the coaches.

Not flipping Keys. I chipped in an extra $20 this week for LSU ;)

Despite the rumors, I'm not always negative. Most of my observations are more fair than some care to admit.
This appears to be true of a Yeti:

The yeti's temperament is complex and often contradictory. While frequently portrayed as a fearsome beast, some sources suggest they can be friendly, hospitable, and even protective, particularly towards those they consider family or guests. However, they are also known for their ferocity and territoriality, especially when provoked or threatened.

Just don't threaten Weezer.

His only chance of playing this season is here, unless he steps down a division. And if he has to sit out a season, I could easily see him losing his luster. He's self-sabotaging and is potentially throwing away his future.

I did many times and I strongly support the idea. They should have stuck to their guns and remained the Redskins and Indians in the 1st place.

We are 1 Injury away from starting a freshman at a multitude of positions. To have 4 guys who are all very good and experienced in 2025 in the same position group is quality depth to me. How many teams have 4 guys playing CB and nickel with that much talent and experience? Once you get past 4 CB/NBs every team in the country is relying on youth and inexperience. @Weezer made a valid point that the lack of depth is really at S that I won't argue.

Yup
Yup. Want to fix anything like this quick first you gotta take the money out of it. It shouldn’t be this freaking profitable to help a college kid find a new school. I understand it’s all a business, but these agents very clearly have never had the players best interests in mind, never mind the sport itself.
Exactly

Oh, and make it to where a family member cannot be an agent

Where?

LB - no
DL - no
OL - no
QB - no

Only DB and WR.

Edit: before someone says our RT is a freshmen, he is a five star and best OT recruit in the country. We don’t have that at DB.
