Afraid? Silly.

But per capita murder rate is highest among large metro areas. It's prudent to be aware and understandable that some would choose to not live there.
Choose not to live there is one thing. To each their own.

But the total disgust shown by some towards many southern towns and cities, due to pocketed crime, is so overblown and shows a true bubble-life. You don't have to read much to see the hate thrown at Memphis, Atlanta, Chattanooga, and all the hollers in between.

But the irony is strong coming from any southern area. Very few areas are exactly "safe" compared to the nation. All comes back to income disparity. Maybe we should get over ourselves and look towards solutions rather than demonizing each other.

The northeast, west coast, midwest, northwest are about the only half-safe areas, comparably.

Tl;dr the constant shade and hate thrown at Memphis by other Tennesseeans is sad. They speak of togetherness, but in words only.

To your last point, it's fun to chide and make fun of Memphis. But I'll defend Memphis to anyone who ain't a Tennessean.

Memphis is legitimately one of the coolest and historic cities in this country when you look closely. Memphis history is Tennessee history.

So, yeah, Memphis is Memphis. But that's OUR Memphis dangit!

Also, let's not pretend East TN doesn't have issues too. Y'all are weird and goofy af (he says, lovingly)...

Signed - a Middle Tennessean who lived in Knoxville and who's family is from and some still live in Memphis.

Let's not start this which City gets **** on more than the other... Damnit I grew up in Cosby and Newport has been the ass end of jokes for many years... Tennesseans hate Cocke County...

Anyone who doesn't like something must be afraid of it. Such a silly statement. The Memphis defenders act like none of that stats matter.

Education goes a long way. The south isn't exactly known for it. There's another correlation that I won't mention, but I think you can figure it out ;)

Okay yankee, so the south is stupid and ya'll are fixing to elect a straight up commie terrorist mayor of NYC and don't even get me started on Minnesota and California. There is a reason all those stupid yankees are moving here. I could write a dagum book about the stupid yankees I have run across in the past five years.

You can easily see that I don't live in NYC (hell to the NO), or even NY for that matter...you only need to hover

Now show Tennessee's rate with Memphis removed.

I'll go with right thinking over speaking English gooderer, both of which I do.
You do you "boo".

Grammatically, the sentence is problematic—but not entirely incoherent. Here's a breakdown of its main grammar issues, alongside the informal or dialectal elements that contribute to its rough tone and lack of clarity:

Original Quote:
"Okay yankee, so the south is stupid and ya'll are fixing to elect a straight up commie terrorist mayor of NYC and don't even get me started on Minnesota and California. There is a reason all those stupid yankees are moving here. I could write a dagum book about the stupid yankees I have run across in the past five years."

1. Capitalization Errors
“yankee” and “the south” should be capitalized:
✅ “Yankee”, “the South” (proper nouns/regions)

2. Contractions & Informality
“ya'll” is a misspelling. Correct contraction:
✅ “y’all” (short for you all)
❌ “ya'll” is incorrect—apostrophe placement is off.

3. Run-on Sentences
The first sentence runs several ideas together with no punctuation or clarity breaks.

Suggestion: break it up into shorter, clearer sentences or use semicolons/commas properly.

4. Ambiguity & Lack of Parallel Structure
“...and don't even get me started on Minnesota and California.”

Who is the subject of “don’t”? It's a sentence fragment.

Needs rephrasing or clear subject for clarity.

5. Repetitive/Redundant Language
Repeating “stupid yankees” three times adds redundancy and makes the writing sound emotional rather than reasoned.

Summary of Grammar Rating:
Category Evaluation
Capitalization ❌ Incorrect for proper nouns
Punctuation ❌ Missing clarity breaks
Contractions ❌ “ya’ll” is incorrect
Sentence structure ❌ Run-ons and fragments
Clarity/Coherence ⚠️ Understandable but disjointed
Spelling/Word choice ⚠️ Informal slang (“dagum”)

Overall Grade (Grammar-Only): D+ / C-
If written in a more structured, grammatically correct way—but still emotionally charged—it might still be inappropriate, but at least clearer. Would you like me to revise it for grammar only, or reframe it into a respectful, constructive message?

TL; DR

But did you tell everyone that not only are you a yankee, but you've changed allegiances to LSU as well?
Haven't donated a single dollar to LSU (although I guess with paying taxes, I have contributed to my own GI Bill).

I'm in the 6,600 hundred range for UT though.

If you don't like it here, Delta is ready when you are. You can be back in New York peeing on the sidewalk in no time. While you wait, enjoy the Ignore List.
I don't have anyone on ignore (although there is one I'd like to, but apparently you can't ignore mods). Delta is headquartered here, so a flight would be easy. I'll keep that in mind.
