I miss my charcoal grill. Soak the husks in water, pull them back and brush olive oil on the corn, recover the corn with the husks, put on the grill.

We used the Blackstone today. Personally I prefer charcoal though.

Bottle rocket fights on the 4th were always a smart idea.

I'd cut and glue tiny balsa wings and stabilizers to bottle rockets, then innocently invite my nephews outside to "see if they'll fly."

Truth in advertising would have been, "Who wants to play dodge-rocket?"

We got some fresh fruits today to go along with the burgers and hot dogs and man that watermelon and cantaloupe was on point! Wished we would have done street corn. Didn’t even think about that.

I’ve been getting peaches, blueberries and blackberries from the farmers market at market square.
They are all good, but it’s probably the best blackberries I’ve ever had.

I’ve been getting peaches, blueberries and blackberries from the farmers market at market square.
They are all good, but it’s probably the best blackberries I’ve ever had.

I had a peach tree at my house in Napa. Always been my favorite fruit.

Neighbor had two rocket fired tubes from the Army Reserve. You could use the sights to aim. Guy in back would light the bottle rocket.
You’d be surprised how accurate it was.

Same here in Middle Tennessee. We had near record rainfall, and everyone expected the berries to be watery tasting. But--oh, my!--they were huge and tastiest ever! Gonna be a good Fall for homemade biscuits & blackberry jam!

I'm kinda keeping a list of things that are different this summer, following last summer's cicada confluence.
More turkeys this year. Better crops of blackberries and blueberries. ...and strangely, quieter this summer!
