Official Gramps' Memorial Eternal OT Thread

They tried.

Short story: putting the boat on the trailer and some young idgeits in a Supra come into the no wake zone still pulling a surfer. Thankfully the wife is a better boat handler than 99% of most men otherwise it would have been a disaster. I very politely expressed my feelings on the matter. A couple of the idgits confronted me at the top of the ramp, one shoved me.

I walked away with a goose egg under an eye a bloody lip and a right hand that might have a broken bone but those two idgits were still on the ground when I got into the truck and pulled away. I haven’t felt so alive in years!
Hell yeah! I wish I’d been there to witness and help out. Was this on Old Hickory? If so what ramp were you at?

Transmission drive belt broke on mower Thursday. Son was mowing one of his customers. Of course one person can't push it up the ramp so I had to drive to him to help. Got new belt yesterday. Put it on this am. Pita. The main deck drive belt has to come off the spindle to install the Trans belt. Welp, I guess I goofed it up because the deck drive belt came off tension pulley and got shredded.
Back to lawnmower repair Monday afternoon. 🤬
Drive belts are notoriously known to be a PITA. You have to take half the mower apart to get to them on most models.
How many “syllables” did you say when the deck belt came off and got shredded?

I believe I said, "Oh dash it all. I dare say this is not quite up to standard. I am vexed with this tiresome situation".

As you can tell from my harsh words, it was a bad moment.

You have not checked in, in the run thread in a while. You still getting after it?
I have been lifting weights and playing basketball with little to no running. I developed some soreness in my right foot November of last year thinking it was a stress fracture. Luckily, there was no break after going to the orthopedic doctor. Starting to slowly get back in the groove.

But did you break it before you went to the doctor, silly?

@PEPPERJAX listen to crush. He’s a professional at breaking his foot. Maybe among the best ever.
In fact he will send you nasty pictures of his broken foot without first giving you a heads up
I wore out a pair of running shoes and should have changed them sooner than I did. Lesson learned the painful way.

You know... peeve of mine is someone who sneezes unnaturally loud for no ****ing reason other than to be annoying

Chiming in as someone who is either able to completely suppress a sneeze (and cause my whole nasal passage to burn for several minutes) or sneeze uncontrollably loud, happy to be of service.

You fall into the "annoying" category... Likely because you can.

The well over retirement age person that works across from me does it during the day. She's already loud and annoying to start with so, that doesn't help matters.

Old folks in confined spaces? Stop your whining and be grateful it's not a SHneeze.

Every 20 minute job is one broken bolt away from being a 3 day nightmare.
speaking of lawnmower 3 day disasters.

rear wheel broke on mine. ordered a replacement, it came with its own bolt and nut. get it, and I can't remove the old bolt. it is welded into place. didn't even think to check that. new tire fits on the old bolt, but comes with an extension that keeps the nut from fitting. so I saw off a bit of the extension. can get the edge of the nut on, but not enough to secure it. so I saw off a hair bit more. suddenly the extension is too short and the tire wobbles. 2hrs into a 15 minute job I didn't want to get rained out so I just cut with the wobbly wheels. Went to ACE after finishing the yard, and during the rain, to get washers to keep it flush.

if that is how bad replacing the wheels is, I can't imagine doing more complicated stuff.
