Due to book deals our SCOTUS isn't able to hold a quorum and decide a case, maybe justices should hold off on book and other business dealings until they leave the court?

He said the public would likely not know why the justices recused themselves from Baker v. Coates unless the justices chose to disclose that information.

"But here, it appears the justices had recused themselves because they had book deals with the same publisher as is involved in the current case before the Court," Gerhardt said.

A party in the case owns Penguin Random House, which has published or plans to publish books by Sotomayor, Gorsuch, Barrett and Jackson.


Alito, whose published works have not been associated with Penguin Random House, also recused himself from the proceeding.

Book deals are used blatantly for bribes and money laundering too. Tens of millions of dollars up front for some of these officials. Pretty sure I read Obama had 1 book deal that paid $30MM up front. These people don't even write the books, they are ghost written. Nobody is buying expensive paper biographies or alleged autobios in 2025. Thats how they launder money though. Its a shell game using books that nobody reads

…and a little side benefit of that policy would be that Supreme Court Justices would retire at a younger age in order to cash in on their books and have time to enjoy their plunder.

IANAL but I think sex itself is viewed as a choice and so therefore birth control is not an entitlement for anybody. Birth control is lifestyle choice, just like driving by Dairy Queen and eating ice cream. If you're running a government, you might decide anyway to provide it because you're trying to do social engineering.
