No, the USS Saratoga (CV-3) was not hit during the attack on Pearl Harbor on December 7, 1941. While the Saratoga was near Hawaii at the time, she was actually entering San Diego after a dry docking in Bremerton. She was subsequently ordered to reinforce Wake Island but was delayed and eventually returned to Pearl Harbor for repairs after being torpedoed by a Japanese submarine on January 11, 1942.

Arguably the firebombing campaign against Tokyo wreaked more damage and resulted in larger loss of life than the two nuclear attacks. (Edit to clarify, singular raids. I can see combined casualties of both nuclear raids being higher but not sure)

Valid point...also its a certainty that the coming bombing of all of Japan with conventional munitions would have killed FAR more. The people had been lied to for the duration of the war and told there would be unspeakable atrocities done to every man, woman, and child if the Americans defeated them...so they were willing to fight to the last man without surrendering in a conventional munitions war. The shock of nuclear destruction saved likely hundreds of thousands of lives. Maybe millions. The Japanese leaders said this themselves in regards to surrender. It simply wasn't gonna happen.

If this is actually true, I am all for continued bombing at those sites. This isnt something to half-azz. If you intend to destroy something, then destroy it. I am sure Israel isn't gonna let them just show up with bulldozers and excavators tomorrow and start redigging those tunnels though. Regardless of ANY ceasefire agreement. I would bet my balls that when/if any equipment shows up on those sites or even NEAR them that Israel will absolutely bomb them immediately. Israel cannot and will not allow Iran to obtain nuclear weapons. We will help them if necessary and I am 100% ok with that as long as we don't put boots on the ground, which we won't need to.
