Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Seems like I keep reading about other teams picking up recruits. When is it our turn? I mean, it's June already, almost July, and we aren't even close to full. Somebody kick Spyre in the ass and tell them to get busy.

Pacers player haliburton popped his achilles tonight. Cringe every time I see it. Feels like it’s happening to athletes across sports more and more these days. It’s a career-ender for many.
Just depends on the athlete’s age, but guys can certainly return to form from an Achilles injury. Durant has. Dominique Wilkins did. Others have, too. Just a long road for recovery.

Try making it into french fries, roll it in a little panko and air fry it. It’s awesome. I would actually choose it over the best French fried potatoes and I absolutely love french fries.

My wife’s gardens have been going nuts. Green beans, zucchini, yellow squash, bell peppers, tomatoes, jalapeños, onions, okra, and have a bunch of cantaloupes ripening now. It’s been awesome. She’s had some much that she’s making and freezing tomato sauce. The best pico de gallo ever.

I am dreading the Texas weather hitting the 100s. The rain and cooler weather has been great for the gardens.
The green beans are doing pretty good here. Hope the tomatoes do something. I may have planted them too late. Usually try to make some spaghetti sauce if I have enough.

We are deeply involved in a lot of high rated guys this class. If most the cards fall right, could be the best class in the schools history in the modern recruiting era. But it’s also risky, don’t land the majority and could be in a tough spot

I am all for swinging for the fence, because in the final analysis we need to knock it out of the park.

So, are we going to win the Home Run Derby, or are we Mighty Casey at the bat?

Who gives a sh!t ? I don't. I can't stand Sanders, but I've had 2 speeding tickets in a week, driving a delivery truck. I didn't get fired and the company I worked for, paid for one of 'em. No big deal, imo. There's a million worse things he could have done. I guess you have never had a speeding ticket ?
Having a bad day? This a football talk thread. I fail to see how that post has anything to do with you getting speeding tickets driving a delivery truck and still keeping your job. But since you brought it up...

One point of the post is the Browns wasted a pick (again) on a guy who is at a position that demands maturity and uniting leadership ability. Anybody who has ever followed the Browns post-Modell knows it is a team tradition to screw up the draft. There were hundreds of posts in this thread about Sanders during the draft period, so it's a relevant topic.

Another point is any person who has lost a family member or friend to a reckless driver understands, as well as the driver. Such as Henry Ruggs and the family who lost their loved one as an example. His team lost a teammate and valuable piece to the offense. He lost his freedom and gained regrets for the rest of his life. I think what has been going on at UGA for years is also a good example. Excessive speed on the roads causes tragedy and sorrow at times. It is life changing for everybody involved.

While on the subject, a delivery truck driver killed an immediate family member's fiancée on Chapman Highway by speeding and his brakes not being maintained. We know that one personally since we were the first on the scene when they unpacked her fiancee's lifeless body out of his vehicle and flew him to UT Medical Center. We all missed a lifetime of joy and happiness with that great young man.

Please drive carefully and safely if not for yourself, for others. Nobody who has ever received a ticket for speeding, including me in my younger days, are better or worse than anybody else. But it will never be a good thing to do.

Happy Monday

June 23, 2025: No matter how deep the darkness of your circumstances, the Lord promises that in times of sadness and sorrow there is still hope. Hardship is a cruel teacher, but there are always lessons to learn and ways to rise up in the realm of the spirit and overcome. This is a new day with new opportunities to grow spiritually. Psalm 30:4-5 Sing praise to the Lord, you saints of His, and give thanks at the remembrance of His holy name. For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for life; weeping may endure for a night, but joy comes in the morning

We're you driving a delivery truck 40mph over the speed limit?

Sanders has put together a portfolio of behavior that indicates he's a narcissist who thinks he's the main character of Earth. It's not just a speeding ticket, he was endangering lives. God forbid he doesn't learn his lesson and do what Ruggs did or worse.

What pisses me off about these young athletes driving like this is its not just their lives they have no regard for, it's everyone's lives. They have no concept or grasp that around the next blind curve is a family of 4 in a minivan going to see their grandparents. They think they're in a video game.

Narcissistic extension of main gravitational force of parent. Large egos that circle around that massive ego.

I think this has been discussed recently but anyone have good experience with HVAC companies in Knoxville?

I think I will be replacing mine.
There are probably several good ones, but I am partial to Cantrell Heating and Air. A few years ago there was a bad storm and almost everyone in town had flooding in basements and crawl spaces. My HVAC ended up partially underwater. They sent a guy out on a Saturday night to look at it. There wasn't much he could do with it so wet, but he told me it would probably be fine when it dried out (he was right) and didn't charge me for the visit. I offered more than once to pay for the service call, but he insisted that he didn't do anything and wasn't going to charge because they just wanted to help people out with all the storms. They earned my business that day, and I've been a loyal customer ever since. Never been disappointed.
