The Atlanta Braves

I think he will as long as revenue/ticket sales are good. As bad as they've been Truist still looks pretty full every night.
There definitely is a lot of inertia after a championship (or even just a championship run). 2021 is getting further in the rear view mirror though. It wasn't like they won it a year or two ago.

Well, I mean Snit is gone at EOY. It was trending in that direction even if it was a good season.

The real question now is does AA survive this. I think he does.

The Braves have had 5 GM’s since 1986 (not counting the weird John Hart one year stint). I would be shocked if they don’t give him another season.

It’s almost like if they hit behind a runner every once in a while or worked a count in specifics situations they may have very easily won another 10-14 games!
Or if they had a BP that could hold a lead. Almost like all of us said the BP was trash to start the season.

I think it is a situation where his bosses sit him down and have a real heart to heart about the direction the team is going and his plan. Assuming that they actually want to win games and not just collect rent checks from The Battery. Maybe they think that winning the WS has bought them a 15 year period where they don't have to contend

I know meetings like that occur in every offseason, but some probably have more urgency than others. The 2025 meeting should probably be one of those times.

If people expected the bullpen to be trash and it is trash, that’s not really a problem. It’s an expected outcome.

Very talented major league hitters either not knowing or caring how they should approach at bats is an actual problem, and one I have been talking about with this team for years.

Do y'all think the large number of very early, pre-arb long-term deals AA gave out has contributed to a sense of complacency there? Not just among the players who received them, but throughout the roster generally?

If they get swept by Milwaukee, which is highly likely, and drop 10 straight, then I'm not sure they can wait until the season is over to force Snit out

It's actually impressive. They are so bad now and so far from the playoffs, that it doesn't matter if they fire him or not now. Might as well let him have the retirement tour!

I wouldn’tgo that far, but to me it’s a strategy that makes no sense if you’re not going to take the savings and become a player for high end free agents. Otherwise you might as well have taken advantage of cheap years under team control and played it conventionally. It’s complete malpractice to save money and then walk into the season without an MLB SS in the organization and a scrap heap bullpen.

I think it is a flawed team built by AA with zero leadership and a manager that threw in the towel more so than complacency. All those guys were paid in 2023.

Bad bullpen
Solid but unspectacular starting rotation
Stars (Riley & Olson specifically) not hitting like stars
Albies and Harris falling off a cliff
Incredibly unfortunate 1-loss record
Dumbass manager that has phone it in completely but doesn't have the moral fiber to retire so he gets every last penny

Recipe for disaster
