OldTimer’s Dugout - Off Topic Thread

I mean, how can you not be impressed by overcoming not only the OU loss/walkoff, but also UCLA 2-out game-tying HR and the accompanying plate-touching controversy? No small feat to weather both of those.
I wasn’t too ticked about the home plate thing. It was more annoying than anything. Wouldn’t have been in that situation if we didn’t give up the bomb.

Hope to God he can throw strikes & WF swings & misses each one.
To date the 2025 BaseVols have met my expectations. Realistically I did not anticipate a super regional win and of course no CWS.

However, it’s right in front of them. Play to the level they are capable of and let’s see what happens in Arkansas. We’ll play them different if we earn the opportunity, and may just surprise them.

I want to win every time they take the field. This young team has performed even with the bumps in the road. GBO!

I asked ChatGPT who it predicted to win tonight.

Tonight’s elimination game between Tennessee and Wake Forest is shaping up to be a high-stakes, high-scoring battle.

🔥 Tennessee’s Edge
  • Pitching Depth: Tennessee has several fresh arms available, including Tegan Kuhns (5.40 ERA), Tanner Franklin, and Brayden Krenzel. This depth could be crucial in a game where pitching stamina is tested.
  • Offensive Power: The Volunteers boast a potent lineup, with Andrew Fischer leading the charge with 23 home runs and a .341 batting average. Their offense has been consistent, and playing at home in Lindsey Nelson Stadium provides an added advantage.
⚠️ Wake Forest’s Challenge
  • Pitching Concerns: Wake Forest is starting Griffin Green, who has a respectable 2.55 ERA over 35.1 innings but hasn’t started a game this season. The rest of their bullpen may be stretched thin after multiple games in the regional.
  • Momentum: Despite pitching concerns, the Demon Deacons have won three straight elimination games, including a 7-6 victory over Tennessee, showcasing resilience and offensive capability.
📊 Prediction

Given Tennessee’s pitching depth and offensive firepower, they have a clear advantage. However, Wake Forest’s recent momentum and ability to capitalize on opponents’ mistakes cannot be overlooked.

Final Score Prediction: Tennessee 9, Wake Forest 7

Expect a competitive game with plenty of runs, but Tennessee’s depth and home-field advantage should carry them to victory.
