Sources: UT Athletics Mulling New Apparel Deal With Adidas — FOX SPORTS KNOXVILLE

Sources have indicated to Fanrun Sports that the likelihood of Tennessee Athletics moving its apparel rights from Nike to Adidas is “high.”

The University of Tennessee and Adidas have already met about a potential reunion, according to people familiar with the situation.

Adidas feels good about how the meetings went. They are going hard after Tennessee and landing the deal is currently their top priority.

It is accurate to say at this point that Adidas has presented an offer. The company was UT’s apparel partner pre-2015 when the school agreed to a deal with Nike.

The Adidas deal isn’t done yet, though, as Nike still has a card to play known as “first right of refusal.”

I know most won't like this but I'm for it. I'm a big guy and I always preferred the fit of Adidas T Shirts and Long Sleeves to Nike.
I seem to remember that there was an issue with Adidas balls that kickers didn't like for some reason? I want to say there was something the QBs didn't like as well. They are both woke companies and I'd personally rather not do business with either one, but on one hand the Nike uniforms look better and seem to appeal to recruits more, but i don't like the idea of creating revenue for the Oregon program.

I’ve really loved Nike and against a change but then I saw these numbers and was a little disappointed how little Nike values us… it’s a little bit of a slap in the face..

Nike sets the market because they are top dog. Adidas has to overpay to get schools to switch. All things equal no one is choosing Adidas which is inherently the problem.

Adidas on the field quality was terrible. as others have pointed out, I don't want to see the team out there with three different oranges on. it made us look like a charity case, and not a proud program.

the team loved it too when we went to Nike.

I simply refuse to buy any of the Nike apparel. When Tennessee made the switch from Adidas to Nike, I purchased a few of the short sleeve t-shirts and ended up sending every item back. They were way over-priced and made from tissue thin material, basically junk with a power T. I'm looking for items that I can wear every day and not paper thin. I love the licensed Comfort Colors t-shirts and wear them all the time. (wearing one of my Comfort Colors Baseball National Champion t-shirts right now) Prefer the Nike for team uniforms but will never again purchase any Nike Tennessee apparel for myself.

If you're gonna leave Nike, jump to Jordan. I'm guessing it's about saving money. Haven't read article so I don't know.

Tell me the last time an Adidas school won a national championship in football? Was it us or Nebraska 20+ years ago? Outside maybe Kansas same goes for hoops.

I’m no fan of any of the shoe/apparel companies, but IMO Nike makes the best looking stuff hands down. Moving to Adidas will be a huge mistake.

So you think if we move to Adidas we will suck again? Hate to tell you, we sucked quite a bit in '17, '18', first part of '19, and '20 WITH Nike. Last time we won a natty in football was in '98 with Adidas. Branding doesn't matter - it's the product you put on the field.

Vast majority of national powers are with Nike for a reason. This isn’t hard.

Meh.

Adidas makes better quality products, Nike looks better.

For the fans, the longevity of Adidas makes sense, but kids think Nike is cooler. Minor, especially in the grand scheme of the NIL era, but every little bit helps.
any player would tell you adidas cant make a good ball to save their lives

Branding is critical.

Your consumer choices in a variety spaces are all due to generations of brand marketing.
