Not a worthy goal. Never thought I'd see a worse bunch than '62 Mets.
.but infamy comes cheap.

Last year’s White Sox were the equivalent of that 1962 Mets team. We are living in the golden era of trash teams right now.

1962 Mets: 40-120 (.250) 60.5 games back
2024 White Sox: 41-121 (.253) 51.5 games back
2025 Rockies: 7-34 (.171) 20 games back

Rockies current pace: 28-134 (.171) 79 games back. 134 losses would be a full 13 games worse than those awful White Sox for the modern era record and tie the all-time record for losses set by the 1899 Cleveland Spiders. Their .171 winning percentage would be a new modern era low and place them third lowest all-time behind the 1899 Spiders and 1890 Pittsburgh Alleghenys. Their 79 games back would be 13.5 games worse than the 1935 Braves, setting a new modern day low, and only trailing those 1899 Spiders all-time which finished 84 games back.

I think it's mainly people hate how expensive it's gotten to attend UT games since he became AD. To which I would say this: Duh, we're good now. It's always gonna cost more to watch a contending team than a bad one. 10 years ago it cost me an arm and a leg to go to a Cardinals game.... now I can get tix for $5 because they suck.

But people seem to have this impression that ADDW is like Fulmer or Dickey, in that he'll sacrifice other sports for the sake of the cash cow (football), when nothing in his resume, reputation, or background suggests that is the case. If Fulmer or Hamilton was AD, I'd worry about losing a coach we really want to keep. But under this AD, I'm not going to worry about that until I'm given a reason to.

I get the issues with the ticket sales (Ticketmaster), guaranteed revenue and the recently established, well heeled “I paid for them, I’ll do what I want with them” attitude. The Athletic Department could incentivize getting asses in seats by establishing some ground rules for attendance and providing a path to transfer of ticket rights if the patrons will not be in attendance.

Since you brought the subject up. The Rockies have drafted Beck, Dollander and Halvorsen from Vols last few seasons. Mock draft has Rockies picking fourth, 3 guesses who the projected pick is..

I would guess Doyle but he might not be there for them to select him. Some mocks have him going 2nd to the Angels.

Thats the cost of being a top tier team in College Baseball in America. Individuals need to suck it up..

I think if you are a season ticket holder then you should be expected to attend 80% of the home games (~30 games per season). If you don’t attend that threshold then you forfeit your right to purchase season tickets for 5 years.

Dolly pitched a nice game last night but lost 2-1.

Even so, the Rockies catcher would currently have the best ERA amongst the starting rotation.

I've always thought that rule is one of the dumbest in sports. The 1B is in fair territory. The runner should be legal in taking the shortest route to the bag. If his swing takes him into fair territory he kind of has to run that way to the base. It's legal to be in fair territory between 3B and HP. Why not 1B?

But to avoid leaving it up to an umpire, I was always taught as the first baseman to choose the fair or foul side of the bag (whichever way the catcher is going, the catcher actually yells inside/outside to cue the first baseman) and make yourself to be a wide and available target. We never once had an issue of throwing into a base runner in all of my years of playing.

The Rockies love the Vols. Spoke to one of their Scouts last week. They are high on Doyle and Phillips.

Agree but for weekend series only. Midweek games shouldn’t count against the attendance requirement. Hard to make it to 80% of Tuesday games from ATL.

Interestingly, GA’s midweek games are all $6 general admission and you can sit anywhere. First come, first served. Their season tickets are only for weekend series.

I despise the Yankees and any team who tries to buy their way to greatness. Under the current state of college athletics, what would stop Warren Buffett from donating $20M to NIL for University of Nebraska’s baseball team? It’s becoming a total joke. Who will be the first baseball player to rent himself out to 4 different schools in 4 years? I’m not here for that.

Oh I really think that's going to happen. But there's not a ton of so called can't miss players. An injury or 2 can change the dynamics of the highest paid teams. They really got to do something with this transfer each year without some type of compensation.
