Trade Wars and Tariffs

That’s not what he did. He put his holdings into a blind trust.

OK, now I'm on the same page as you. Nobody completely divests, but they divest from holdings they think might compromise them. For example:

Obama - ExxonMobil and GE stock
HW - sold off a lot of directly held stocks

Funny enough, Hillary liquidated holdings in 2007. I wonder if Obama made her. There were military contractors in there.

I picked one of the names you mentioned and did some very basic research to find out the answer is yes. LOL.

I suggest everybody ignore Thunder and just peek every once in a while. Life is much better on VN without him wasting your time on rants that could have been replaced by a Google search that he kept to himself.
So he didn’t “divest”.

Irony.

Hopefully we got a good deal, but when I read one of the bullet points is "Ensure strong industrial base, protections for steel" then this is just a bullet list from a mouthpiece for the admin, and I have no idea what's in the deal. Just because we got a deal doesn't mean it's better. See NAFTA vs. USMCA.
NAFTA was horrible. It could have been good with some basic protections. But, With the stroke of that pen, Clinton decimated American Textiles at warp speed. Dang near collapsed GA, SC, NC, VA.

What I don't understand from Trump's world is if his USMCA was as good as he promoted, and corrected NAFTA, why did he go off the rails on Mexico and Canadian trade when he got back in office. THe only trade barriers and deficits that truly needed some correction and re-direction was the EU and China. Props for a better UK deal, but they weren't the trade enemy, except for certain items. And those were understandable with European stances on all our harsh additives in everything we consume.

Our own Agri Conglomerate practices and monopolies is our own worst enemy on world trade markets. WE as a people should have long refused to eat crops thrust down our throat that have been GMO'd to death only to be able to mass spray with round-up and not kill hte crop plant. Wurope ain't taking that crap. Only Americans will ingest such garbage.

Did USMCA prevent Mexico from enabling China to avoid tariffs through the back door?

?? If it did not, then Trump didn't make as good a deal as he touted.

Doing nothing to prevent illegal border crossings (and human trafficking) and permitting the free flow of fentanyl might not be addressed in USMCA either. So maybe starting from scratch is the best approach.

Touting the previous achievements and not admitting earlier bad deals are his playbook. He’s not going to veer off of that narrative at this point in his life.

I said that he was trolling the Hollywood elites in the post that you jumped on. And it’s glorious.

You posted “Thank God that we have a troll in the White House INSTEAD of a statesman” but you’ve failed to name even one statesman. Kamala? Joe? Gavin? Pete? AOC? Kind of looks to me like you took a position.
Sounds like your logic needs a tune up

Arguing about who's a statesman does not make it any less embarrassing that you think the President being a troll is "glorious"

Except that I found that Obama and HW did divest, and he said the "Bushes", so my initial response was correct, even though W didn't technically divest. I'm not wrong and a quick Google search would've helped the man.

Thanks for showing up, though.

When you’ve dug yourself into a hole the first thing that you should do is to stop digging. You’re embarrassing yourself.

It's grift on a scale unimaginable to any previous president. The current market cap, for something he created out of thin air right before inauguration, is $2B. This for something that has no real world value, other than to speculators and people (many of them foreign) trying to buy influence.

It's so different than Bitcoin, right?

Obama selling his Exxon Mobil stock before taking office sounds as much like insider trading as divestment for show. And WTF was that hypocrite owning shares of XOM with all that global warming caused by his Big Oil holdings in the first place?

HW sold “a lot”. I doubt that it was even material.

🤣

Good ole Huff.

Yes, dear, of course you were correct. You always are.

Did my first response name presidents who divested? The answer is yes. Was it an easy answer to find? Yes.

But that doesn't matter. You thought you had me and you can't let it go.

Your claim in that first comment is dumb AF considering it's Exxon Mobile

At least you're proud of being an uncouth Trump ideologue. There's points for that👍

I don’t think that you know what all of those words mean.

Yes, I’m an ideologue aligned with DJT’s stances when it comes to men in women’s locker rooms, undocumented border crossings, lower taxes, doing something about Fentanyl, working to end wars, building manufacturing capacity and bringing back good jobs to America, rooting out government waste, securing channels for critical supplies, dealing with China like the enemy that they are. To name a few.

That's not as clever as you think😉

I agree he's making great strides with the border.

Working to end wars? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

I certainly agree with improving trade deals with China, but he is incompetent at international trade. It isn't some real estate distributive negotiation. He doesn't understand how to negotiate in an integrated manner, which is required with international trade
