Recruiting Football Talk VIII

Saw a kid grow up on the mound. I talked about upper class leadership, and needing to find that guy last week. Team struggled to rebound from miscues in their losses. Pitching has been pretty solid, with exception of Tamu losses.

Last night saw a 5'7" dude showing emotion to first baseman, on opposing team. LSU had won an emotional game night before, their players were pointing to shirts and being disrespectful. Ariel showed that fire. Team fed off it.

Last night was a big turning point for MO. Phillips had a gritty performance. Got out of some bad situations.

The bats came around after a helluva bunt. I hope they grew up last night.
Antigua was a dude last night. I wanted so bad for that ball he hit to clear the wall. But that hit set the tone. 100% believe he would've turned into a feral bobcat on that 1st baseman had he done something.

They might nickname that dude "the bear" but black bears usually back down from fights.

So Davy Crockett lied?

I just finished watching the Tennessee/LSU game from last night, and holy crap the replay officials were terrible.

1. They called a ball off the wall a catch.

2. They blew the call on Gavin’s stolen base, even with the third base umpire standing right there.

What’s the point of having replay if you’re still going to get the call wrong?
On a better note, Phillips pitched an absolute gem. But Dean is still clearly battling mental issues at the plate.
He needs to be shown the bench for just a couple games. Maybe pinch hit him, but give him a break to refresh his mind.

Is this draft an indictment on our overall talent? I really thought Sampson and Thornton would go higher.
They're a praise to our system.

DSamp wouldn't have led the SEC in rushing at Bama, UGA, TEX.

Not a freak. But stuck around a few years and developed into a legit NFL talent.

Same for Donte. Even with the injuries, going that high is pretty incredible.

Dike I don't get, otherwise I see why they took the others. Would have drafted a WR higher had they not gotten Lockett.

No idea why Ayomanor wasn't considered one of the top guys. Injuries? One shining moment against Travis Hunter?
Probably just trying to meet a quota by taking dike. . .

Bull talks a lot about how we aren't getting porthole players because of lack of money. I thought Spyre was the cream of the crop NIL collective. What's going on?

Personally think Spyre is just spread out between the sports. I've been a member of the VolClub since the beginning. They had lofty goals then, they thought they could 5K members within a few months, when it took years. I remember a conference call when they had under 500 members still saying they wanted 5000 before the football season started. I wish more people would join the Vol Club.

Six SEC teams on this list. Probably more than that had more guys than us drafted.

Which is crazy. How did we make the playoffs with such a lack of nfl talent? Because if you think about it - I’m not sure we’re set up to have many guys selected next year either.

Do more with less coach and scheme.

If we ever get to consistent top-7 recruiting, we're going to be so nasty.

As long as we are top 12-15, expect to keep beating Bama and UF regularly, but falling short in the big dance, unless we get another 2022 type of offense together. Faizon says hello 😵‍💫
