Sampson had great production at UT, but he along with the other running backs have suffered from poor coaching at the RB spot while at UT. Mack and Sims are recruiters and cheerleaders. They are not coaches with ability to teach technical skills.
Everyone points to Pope and Elarbee as problem coaches, but our RBs have been problematic in the passing game as receivers and in pass protection.
The natural skills of Wright, Small and Sampson in the running game have camouflaged the weakness of our RBs in the passing game. All are capable and Sampson should excel in the NFL.

Sampson didnt have an official 40 #, but 247 said it was between 4.46 and 4.49 which is very average for rb’s, but not great considering his size

May be the hamstring. I know Hyatt’s wasn’t all the way healed when he ran the 40 at the combine two years ago.

No. I came in guns blazing because another poster already corrected you by telling you Hyatt was a 3rd round pick, not a 1st round pick. You responded to that post by once again claiming he was a 1st round pick. Look back through your posts.

Clearly, I didn't see it. But here's the thing, I freely admit mistakes. What I won't continue to do is engage with people more interested in conflict than conversation.

These draft analysts spend weeks calling their prognostications, but might as as well be monkeys throwing poo against the wall.

It's so stupid. For starters, they are not "analysts." They are TV talking heads working at engagement farming.

The NFL guys who made the picks are the analysts. Not to say they are all great. It's so bogus for the pretenders on TV to say "for weeks and months analysts said x, but now they have all changed their minds." Not the same "they."

I started our back and forth with a joke that you should represent Shedeur Sanders since you’d convince eveyone that he was drafted in the 1st round despite the fact that he wasn’t. You are the one that got all pissy and escalated the “conflict”.

I'm glad I've been watching the draft on the NFL Network. Charles Davis is one of us and we don't have to hear the whining over Shedeaur every couple of minutes.

Good idea. Hate that he's going to CBS.

In addition to be a great player (one of the Sugar Vols), I think Davis was student body president when my bro was at UT. Or maybe I misremember that story. Anyone know?

His daddy told the NFL powers that be that his son would only play for 1 or 2 teams. They, in turn, are sending him a message. We are the NFL, and we have the power to dictate where your son will play. Not you!

He’s going to have to learn to step up into the pocket rather than drift backwards. He’s also going to have to learn the playbook well and get rid of the ball quickly in rhythm. I don’t think he’ll win the job in year 1. Maybe in Year 2.
